It's our top rotter! => https://www.lddb.com/laserrot.php?id=9170Julien Ah no alas! I have a German import Blu Ray. You can't get it on Blu officially in the UK or Ireland. Not sure why. Is the DVD OOP as it's expensive as well. With that said, I wouldn't bother getting Eraser in the UK or Ireland on any format because it's shredded to pieces by the BBFC. Long overdue a UHD release maybe? Does anyone have the LD? Is it any different to later home releases? Might be worth tracking down if a working copy has survived.

Thanks Julien. I'm going to look in to it. If there are differences between the LD and other formats/later releases I might go and pick it up. Just need a working LD player to play it on though at the minute! Here's a bit I found on the cuts made to the film in the UK/Ireland: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=4900

Why do people even want to see those scenes? WTF makes a human want to see other people tortured? Longer? Do you ever think about questions like that or do you just get mad when people ask them? This movie is terrible, btw. It deserved to become the worst rotter ever.

The thing with movies/tv shows being censored is that a lot of people like to get the full uncut version, extended version, director's cut etc. If something really bothers you then it can be skipped or just look away and block your ears. Nothing worse than someone else deciding what parts you should see imo. Ratings exist for a reason, don't modify something to fit into a lower category please Just made me think of another movie. Not exactly a disturbing scene but in Casino Royale when Bond gets the ball torture I recall feeling unwell the first time I saw it. I was thinking "man, this is pretty sick for a Bond movie". Think parts of that film were cut in the US and UK but I'm not 100% sure (or maybe I'm confused about what was cut where) but I think the version we got here is pretty complete.

If you think Eraser is violent try sitting through something like The Joy Of Torture 2: Oxen Split Torturing or Men Behind The Sun... or perhaps not. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367151/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093170/deadlegion wrote: Just made me think of another movie. Definitely not cut in the UK: https://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/casino-royale-film

teddanson wrote: From that page you linked to, under details>remarks Quote: This film was originally seen by the BBFC in an unfinished version, for advice as to the film's suitability at '12A'. The BBFC advised the company that the torture scene placed too much emphasis on both the infliction of pain and the sadism of the villain for the requested '12A' category. When the completed version of the film was submitted for classification, reductions to the torture sequence had been made, including the removal of lingering shots of the rope, close shots of Bond's facial reaction and the substitution of a more distant shot of the beating compared to the original version. This re-edited version of the scene was considered acceptable at '12A', where the Guidelines permit violence provided there is no dwelling on detail or emphasis on injuries. So yeah, as I thought. The initial UK version had the torture scene partially cut down so it could get a 12 certificate. The 2012 release, which has 15 certificate, is uncut. US initial version had cuts to get a PG-13 rating but maybe not that torture scene, there were cuts to some fights. This cut version was used for DVD/BD releases. German initial version has at least one tiny cut, although the DVD might be uncut idk. Chinese version has a lot of violence cut out including torture. The Australian version has always been uncut afaik, some other countries probably always got that same original version (which was available on UK BD in 2012).

Then you haven't read the book I take it, not great by any means but its in there.

Casino Royale? I read the book a long time ago so the old memory is fuzzy! I don't recall that scene in it. Though I do remember Bond being a bit more of a pig in it as opposed to how he is portrayed as the suave ladies man in the films.
The book as I recall was alright, very much of it's time. As for the films, and straying a little, I quite like Daniel Craig as 007. I also think Timothy Dalton's portrayal of 007 is very much underappreciated. I recall going to see The Living Daylights at the cinema back in the Summer of 1987. I recall it being a hot Summer, just before the great storm that followed later in the year. The cinema was near-empty at the showing I went to. I left feeling rather unimpressed with the film and never really liked the Dalton films since then.
It's only within the last couple of years I've revisited them and taken an entirely new appreciation of Dalton's portrayal of Bond. Today, in my humble opinion, I think the two films he made punch well above their weight. As good, if not better than, some of the more highly regarded 007 films.
