My copy of Videodrome has mostly white, but some colored, etc. speckles throughout both sides. This is an old MCA Videodisc. The entire screen is covered with them and they’re swarming and coming in and out of existence. But they are a lot less visible in dark or black portions of the picture. They don’t look like laser rot to me. We’re these old discs pressed with poor quality? I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to check their copy. Just want to be sure if it’s worth pursuing another copy. Thank you for the help.

? That's odd, usually the speckles or rot is easier to see in dark areas.

Can you post a pic of what you have??? in my experience these older discs once found working don't get issues in the future.

It sounds exactly like rot to me. Of course the disc could have been defective from the beginning also.

Different players correct for rot in different ways and rot can also have some strange variation to it.

This is actually pretty common in Pioneer Japan pressings from 1981-82. You can try other copies, but will have varying degrees of success. I'm still looking for a perfect copy of "Galaxina", pressed during the same period.
