Do they have to be like your list, comedies, or is it open? Two Lane Blacktop as a start, not everyone's cup of tea but I do have a soft spot for that one. Plenty of others.

Two Lane Blacktop as a start No, I just tend to lean towards comedies I guess. Just noticed that all of the ones I listed were haha. I just Wikipedia'd Two Lane Blacktop which linked to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_movi ... this_genre Nice! I guess "Road Movie" is the official name of the genre then.

While it's not from the 70's/80's, Eurotrip isn't that bad.
If you like Star Wars, Fanboys is far better than it deserves to be. Should clarify both of these movies are not on laserdisc, but should be cheap to find second hand at this point.
I love road trip films, as they're usually known, it's easily my favorite subgenre.

Far Away So Close! is probably my favorite live action movie. Be sure to write about it here. Two Lane Blacktop is actually pretyy Wim Wenders-like in some ways. I love this movie as well. It’s expensive on every format though, IIRC.

Glad I'm not alone, didn't know how specific this was. takeshi666 wrote: Does Beavis & Butt-Head Do America count? Absolutely! I need to get Wings of Desire (1987) [ID6635OR] first.

All those Bing and Bob road movies, they are a little older but do travel. For some reason the travel films that come to mind are older or newer, there was one with Paul Rudd traveling for a package to stop from reaching his girlfriend? If you think about it lots of films are travel but may not actually be billed as travel. Pretty much all spy films are travel in some way, they travel from one country to the other

The new BR is massively longer and I’ll eventually get that but the LD certainly entertains. I have the newer and have yet to watch the Criterion. Should stick with that or try to find the LaserDisc one? If you can deal watch the extended version. Its a long film or from what I remember 3 parts, and its very long and I don't have a lot of good to say about this film, but it was watched and enjoyed and then sold.

The original cut of this movie was twenty four (24) hours long. The dude liked to reload the camera a lot, I guess.

therussian wrote: For me the best travel movie is: Lost in Translation. Fun fact: Bill Murray has a Laserdisc player in his hotel room in the movie. One of my favourite Bill Murray travelling movies is Larger Than Life. One of my favourite travelling movies I have on LD is Midnight Run (1988); De Niro and Grodin are such a fantastic team on film.
