I've had Dante's Peak (1997) [43155] still sealed since the early 2000's when Camelot Music was blowing out all LD's. I've finally decided to clear out all of my remaining titles (not much actually) and my LD player. Don't really use it any longer.

Selling this title would I be better off leaving it sealed? Do buyers really care? Before I sell it all I kind of want to open up Dante's Peak and watch it. I still have my Sony TA-E9000 pre/pro that has a RF modulator for AC-3. Might be nice in a nostalgic way to listen to AC-3 off of a LD one last time.

From the perspective of a frequent buyer myself, I would prefer it being opened (but save all the stickers on shrink wrap) so I could have the seller verify that the disc does not suffer from any laser rot that would guarantee a return on my part.

Also, it’s to a seller’s advantage as well to open it to verify the same thing as to ensure no unscrupulous buyer might be trying to con you on a defect you know should not exist. For example, maybe a buyer is trying to replace a rotted disc of the same title and taking advantage of the fact you have no idea if your disc is rotted or not.

So yes... open it and enjoy it ;). It won’t affect the value any differently and this particular title is valued anyway by collectors.

This reminds me, I opened my box of Fantasia a few days ago, was going to watch it but then decided to finish more work in the house.
But this set was bought new and we kept the stickers on a sheet of paper, very interesting to see that this set was never to be released
again.

Didn't keep the wrap though.

Also to check and make sure there aren't any cracks.

I broke it open last night. It was minty fresh inside. It still had that new packaging smell!

The AC-3 track was great. The picture was meh; but that was to be expected.

Fun movie though. It was more enjoyable then I remember.

It was a nice nostalgic evening with an older format. This was the first full movie I've watched on LD in about fifteen years.

It was a good way to end my tenure with LD before I sell everything...

Shame that the standard edition is the one and only Universal release they had DADC USA press.
