Just did the last one (trip to OZ) and even its expensive there it´s more fun than owning a LD for this price...and yes, I love Laserdiscs (to a certain extend)

The smart bootleggers try to avoid flooding the market with their infinite supply of 'rare' merchandise. The impulse buyer will always get the worst deal paying the highest price for something that will appear again in a matter of weeks usually. A clever buyer will watch a bootlegger very closely gathering information about when they relist the same item again and be ready to strike if the price is right. They will previously have saved prices fetched so know what is a good deal versus an average price. Another benefit of the buyer not being too hasty is that the average prices fetched often start to drop as the main collectors for an item have long since acquired their copies. About 5 years ago someone was listing a set of Stevie Nicks bootlegs. There were 5 sets to collect in total each featuring about 4-5 CDs each so it was a massive collection. Each disc contained unreleased tracks, various abandoned outtakes and other rare material that is difficult to obtain. It was obvious these were bootlegs yet they were selling like hot cakes on Ebay. Each of the 5 sets consistently fetched $100-$150 for the first 6 months so total cost of all 5 sets (if you wanted to win them) was about $500 - $750. I wanted the sets but there was no way I was prepared to pay that much for them so I simply waited - biding my time. Eventually the exact same sets were available for around $15- $25 after all the main collectors had already splashed out and acquired them and were no longer bidding.

The spongebob episode - Spongebob has a hat worth 1 million dollars. mr. crabs spends the episode trying to steal it from him. There was a warehouse find and said hat was now worthless. Same in the real world! If you cant learn it on spongebob it aint worth learning Or at least my 7 year old thinks so. My god. Mikeystoyz you are my hero. I'LL GIVE YOU A MILLION DOLLARS FOR THAT HAT

record value is a fragile market, and so the ld market is more fragile. I remember being the first on ebay selling a rare record, I got 700 usd for it. A week later it was down to 400, after that 200, now its stable at 200 usd. There are much examples for this price fall. Also depending of what title it is it might not be possible to keep the price high even if you wait a long time between the sale.
I found a box of a rare lp bootleg with frank zappa that were made in 100 copies in colored vinyl, and half of that was in my box. A foumos record for the collectors. I have sold 4 in 5 years and the price drop have been stable at 30% for each sale. all collector markets are fragile, if there are more than 1 made. norman rockwell original won't drop in price but even like the records you mention, in years people forget about how many were found and the price goes back upto where it should be. it happened to me, found stuff once, price dropped and now it's back to normal, or whatever that is
