I was shocked and saddened to hear last week that Donna Summer had died of cancer. She looked so fit and healthy the last time I had seen her on TV.

It seems appropriate to celebrate her life from some of the laserdiscs that were released that featured her.

There were 3 Japanese editions of the live concert - A Hot Summer Night. The last one with the different red background and sticker OBI is particularly hard to find these days probably because it was a late pressing only available for a short time.
The fourth disc shown is a video compilation of her most popular hits - that one still remains unreleased on DVD so is very popular amongst music video collectors.
Be warned some copies of that one suffer from laser rot so always ask the seller to check:

Donna was also featured on numerous other compilation type laserdiscs including the US and Japanese editions of the Grammy's Greatest Awards and the late 70's editions of the Greatest Years series:

One of the main stars in the disco film - Thank God It's Friday was Donna as shown from the back cover:

I also like that movie because Terri Nunn from Berlin is featured in it.

You will also find some additional Donna Summer videos on various other Pioneer promo music laserdiscs such as:
ET/VideoLink Dance Hits: Number 5028 (1995) [PLP-A33-3-95]

I love Thank God It's Friday and Terri Nunn, but can you imagine if she had been cast as Princess Leia? Or Carrie White?
Singing to Darth Vader "I'm a toy come and play with me say the word now. Wrap your legs around mine and ride me tonight." or to Margaret White "I have powers momma, I'm a goddess, I'm a virgin, am I Bi? I'm your slave and we'll make love together."

I think I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning...

That is interesting to see the 3rd and final Japanese edition was in fact a copy of the PAL cover...never knew that!

I've a spare of TGIF. From memory cover has some wear but it plays perfectly.
There was no US pressing of TGIF available so only the Japanese edition.
I will list it in my store soon.

I just assumed that forum members didn't know that Terri Nunn auditioned for the roles of Primcess Leia and Carrie White.
Imagine though if Carrie Fisher had gotten the Carrie White role - she looks like she could be the daughter of Piper Laurie!

Of course, my post was tacky so that could be the reason for the ignore too.

Everyone in Hollywood auditioned. My favorite would have been Cindy Williams. Shirley as Leia would have been great. Can't you just see her smacking gum and saying, "Help me Obi-Wan"

Is the track by Giorgio Moroder, and Donna Summer "I feel Love" on the Laserdisc in Stereo PCM? I like that track so super cool and such a sad lose of her, departing the Earth. She must be up there now in Disco Heaven singing, I feel Love. :)
RIP Donna Summer :(

Edit: I just looked though the list of Donna Summer Laserdisc and no "I feel Love" featured on any of the titles. huh?
http://www.lddb.com/search.php?search=D ... mmer%3A%2A

She also sung the lyrics to the end credits of Daylight (1996)

Donna Summer & Bruce Roberts - Whenever There's Love

Just brought Endless Summer CD that has "I feel Love" on it. I like the sound of Giorgio Moroder on the Moog.

I've been a member of lddb for years now. Probably over a decade.
I just found out this forum (and this thread).
I decided to post this answer because back in the day I bought a "Daylight" special edition DVD just because it features the "Whenever there is love" music video.
So... letting you know, just in case someone cares to know.
https://www.dvdempire.com/1761/daylight ... movie.html
It seems years later it was also included in the bluray edition of that movie.
