In the 1993 catalogue of LD Express I see for a big number of VALP-32XX music titels (released 1991 - 1992) the indication of "out of print",
which is quite soon, thus I expect only a single pressing run was made, this might explain some of these are difficult to find compared to some others with multiple pressing runs.

That is very interesting and consistent with my own findings. I have most of those VALP-32XX series now but a few took me a long time to locate.
A good example is the Mica Paris one which only crops up once in a blue moon or the Christians - you never see that on Ebay.

I'd been told by someone else that those titles were in low demand and there could be piles of them sitting in a warehouse somewhere gathering dust.
I don't believe that though and am inclined to go with your theory of one production run so very few copies in circulation as I have been asked for those titles many times.
There is plenty of demand - the difficulty is lack of supply.

The Video Arts series is a nice set of music releases and indeed more difficult to trace down compared to the Toshiba (TOLW-xxxx) or Polydor/Phonegram (eg POLP) releases.

By the way a number of Video Arts were re-released as TOLW and/or POLP (eg Blondie)

I checked and can only find the "Freddie Mercury: & Montserrat Caballé: The Barcelona EP [VAL-3095]"

I managed to obtain 2 sealed mint copies of that little Japanese Freddie Mercury 8" LD recently. First time I've ever seen it for sale anywhere.
As it is a single sided disc made from polycarbonate like a CD there shouldn't be any rot.

Here is a pic of the Freddie Mercury LD single complete with sticker OBI and tiny little LD single sticker on shrinkwrap:

Freddie Mercury: & Montserrat Caballé: The Barcelona EP [VAL-3095]

I'd never seen this laserdisc for sale before and then 2 mint sealed copies turned up at the same time out of the blue.

Would trade the spare with someone for something rare I am looking for.
