All VSDs were issued in Japan, and they will have the VSD logo on them.

CDVs that are PAL are not the only rotters. ANY CDV pressed by PolyGram Dupont Optical in the UK (PDO UK) are subject to rot. Every one I have has some level of speckling, and it gets worse as time passes. My copy of "Mr. Mister - Kyrie" is completely unplayable.

But is it so that vsd's which look more like sturdy silver cd's really would last as long as normal audio cd's? So no rot to come?

All the VSD titles I have were pressed by DADC/Sony in Japan. None have failed, nor have the CDV titles pressed by DADC/Sony that are yellow (gold).

I have two 5" cdv titles in my humble collection, both of which are PAL versions: Dire Straits - Money for nothing and The Mission - Wasteland. Dire Straits has some slight clicks in places on the audio but the picture is perfect and the cd tracks play back fine. The Mission disc is pristine with no rot whatsoever!

Does anyone have "The Eyes Of The Wind" CDV?

Grunstein/Srole/Hoppe: Eyes of the Wind (1987) [080 016-2]

I have one comming but don't know much about it. Looks like I will only be able to play the audio tracks though, which is still ok.

I have the PAL German(I think) release. The video is suffering from laserot(bad, sound virtually gone) though but the audio tracks play perfectly.

I purchased Sowing the Seeds of Love lately; the video is totally gone.
All of my players are skipping on it and when there is a picture, it is very snowy.
The audiotracks are slightly distorted. I think within a few years i can totally throw it away :( .
Damn PDO!
The few ntsc cdv's i got and especially vsd's are a magnitude better than their pal cdv counterparts

just checked my "Sowing the Seeds of Love" copy, both video and audio are still very good, almost no drop-outs...
my experience with a couple of titles, you need to buy a few copies to find a good one [if you are interested of course]
example 007 - gladys knight - license to kill, have a perfect copy, but also run in 2 unplayable copies.

Took a punt on another copy. The video is better but still suffers from laser rot and the last 30 seconds is silent. Looks like I will have to look for a NTSC copy.
