Didn't know they we're analog only, another negative. 90's material was in that transitional period from VHS to DVD in about 97. A lot of promo vids never got a decent digital transfer, especially the underground or wave materials. Unfortunately these LD's don't have much of those materials from what I've seen and the ones they do have are found in acceptable or better digital format.

It is all about the quality of the the transfer, mastering and pressing Quality, if things are done quick and dirty you have bad quality, this not only applies to LD, but also for DVD and Blu-Ray [ have seen a lot of bad quality DVDs, also from mainstreet labels ]

Many of the clips on these discs are not available on DVD, and unfortunately the number of DVDs being release has dramatically reduced over the last years, lately seen a whole bunch of older stuff being released by some unknown / dark companies who take a bad VHS and digitize it on a DVD5,
with all the results that can be expected.

Like which ones. Examples please. I'm not seeing what your talking about. Unless your talking about the non new wave/underground vids on these LD's? Which I really don't care about or follow.

Some examples of what I am aware has not yet been officially released on DVD: (but I might be wrong for some as some DVDs are not available worldwide)

LaserJuke:
Shakira: Whenever Wherever
Madonna: Bad Girl
T-Pau
Yello
Sophie B Hawkins
Martika
Vaya Con Dios
90's dance groups like : Twenty 4 Seven, Haddaway, DrAlban, U96, Lasgo, SNAP ....

Bad official DVD releases:
Madonna Celebration : 100 and 112 minutes on a DVD5
Roxette ‎– All Videos Ever Made & More! (The Complete Collection 1987-2001) : you constantly see MPEG artifacts ...

Bad unofficial DVD releases: (taken from a questionable source, often very washed out and bad audio)
Kylie Minogue : Live
Roxette : Sydney live
Laura Branigan : Live at Caesars

Not exactly 90's, but I'll play along. Not a great tune in my mind but was released on DVD on Best of 2003 in PCM. (Not sure but this DVD release may have been an unofficial collection, either way I have the video off of it.)

We are talking about the Pioneer Diamond LD's and their lack of new wave or underground material. Really none of these vids you mention are of that genre. Yello can be found on several different DVD release in PCM. Haddaway and Dr. Alban are released on Mix Mash in excellent digital PCM format, same with SNAP. The rest I don't give a hoot about.
Roxette, Kylie Minogue, no thanks. Madonna, there are other promo services that offer the latter videos.

At best there may be one track on one or two of these 8 inch LD's that would faintly interest me if at all. Not worth the cost and with small effort could be found on other sources that are adequate or better. But that's me. Doesn't mean it don't float other folks boat.

Edwin, As far as I know I'm not looking for anything in the 90's but 1 or 2 vids. I'm into mostly 80's wave/goth/punk but there are some carry overs into the 90's and today. Also I like select Indie/Hipster bands from the 90's into today. Select Rock from all the era's. Some high energy euro beat (very selective). Some 90's bands I like,
Anything Box
House of Love
Lush
Ocean Blue
Hole
Beloved
Blur (few tracks)
Farm
Fortran 5
Guru Josh
Lemonheads
Pearl Jam
Pulp
Presidents of the United States
p0rn0 For Pyros
Seal
Smashing Pumpkins
Vengaboys
Haddaway
Dr. Alban
Candy Flip
Dada
Dambuilders
Q Lazzarus
Bjork
Cranes
Love Spit Love
Red House Painters
His Name Is Alive
Wolfsheim
Rammstein
Thrill Kill Cult
KMFDM
Bad Religion
Rancid
Social Distortion
Jim Carroll Band
(and quite a few carry overs from the 80's)

I think some of The Cure videos on these 8" are not available in DVD yet...
Do you know how many of these LD's have some The Cure videos?

There are much better sources, quality wise, for Cure videos. First, I take it you have the DVD of their Hits. The video is great but the sound will need to be replaced. Then get the individual LD's of the Cure collection. I would stay away from these compilations for any of those vids. Mix Mash has a few also along with other services.

I know that, Elvis!! I have this problem with The Cure: "to be a collector"!! hahaha!! I have all the (USA Editions) Laserdisc, VHS and DVD's... some VHS have better image/sound than LD's... I don't like "Greatest Hits" DVD: just "copy and paste" from a VHS: never remastered at all... Robert Smith said he is working on a BD/DVD box set containing every film (concerts, clips) ever made... but, all the fans, we know he made/make a lot of promises...

Got ya, a completest. Actually the DVD video picture, not the compressed sound, is remastered and well done (Note: Judgement call, if you like the digital sharp plastic look, or if you plan on watching on a digital device). I've replaced the sound with remastered sound tracks and they are better than the LD in my opinion which is definitely better than the VHS (blown out colors, analogue sound). The LD, Picture Sound, has excellent digital sound which I like better than even the CD remasters. But Staring At The Sea digital LD sound is awful, replace with CD remastered sound on videos not on the DVD. A few later videos, late 80's, 90's are available on VHS compilations, have remastered.
I'm mostly into the promo videos, unless there are some important tunes/tracks missing from promo video or the concert is outstanding picture and sound.

So there are LDs out there with material like this that is very rare otherwise? I stumbled across this youtube vid sourced from some promo LD, and since the mix is slightly different, have been trying to find it to no avail. Major Lush fan here, who is always looking for more about the band.

The clip you've referenced isn't a proper video but yes there are loads of special mixes available on promo LDs that you'll have a tough job finding elsewhere. Many were produced for Satellite broadcast tailored especially for maybe dance or rock markets featuring many mainstream artists and lesser known bands as well. I have about 1000 promo LDs with many tracks that never actually charted - they were broadcast at the time as 'new releases' or possible future hits but many got played once and never again because they didn't actually chart. I can't see stuff like that ever getting re-issued on any new format so the laserdisc versions are great time capsules of rare music from that era and excellent quality too.
