I mentioned these music video 8 inchers in another thread. Was wondering how they existed as I had thought LD replication was dead and buried by the time some of the artists on these discs had released their videos. Could never bring myself to pay some of the prices the Ebay peddlers were asking for these discs on top of the international shipping costs though! |

I have hundreds of those 8" LDs as well. The only thing I would add is that I have some titles that cover western music from the 80's that were released in Japan rather than Europe. They came with Japanese jukebox inserts and sometimes featured a mixture of both western and asian music. They are also NOT karaoke discs which are very popular in Japan. Like yourself I believe these to be some of the last laserdiscs ever produced as evident from the music video's which are clearly identifiable to a particular year even if the discs themselves are not from their unusual catalogue numbers! As a music collector it was great to get hold of some recent music from the 2000's that most people thought never got issued on laserdisc - it did! I will add all the discs I have to LDDB.com for future reference. |

Here is a picture of a Japanese 8" laserdisc jukebox LD with tracks from the 80's - in this instance all Western music: |

I saw somewhere that the actually continued to making these 8 inch lds all the way in to 2007-something. Dont know if its true or not, guessing it was only in japan. |

So I won a few auctions on Ebay from a German seller for some of thse 8" video LDs with some tracks I didn't think I'd be able to get on LD . . . ROBBIE WILLIAMS - MILLENIUM T SPOON - SEX ON THE BEACH AEROSMITH - I DONT WAT TO MISS A THING THE CORRS - WHAT CAN I DO SIMPLY RED - THE AIR THAT I BREATH MADONNA - DROWNED WORLD ALISHA´S ATTIC - THE INCIDENTALS ALL SAINTS - BOOTIE CALL FIVE - EVRYBODY GET UP MANIC STREET PREACHERS - IF YOU TOLERATE THIS.... SPICE GIRLS - WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE BEE GEES - ALONE LISA STANSFIELD - THE REAL THING MARK MORRISON - MOAN & GROAN SEAL - FLY LIKE AN EAGLE KULA SHAKER - HUSH ETERNAL - DONT YOU LOVE ME PETER ANDRE - NATURAL INXS - ELEGANTLY WASTED PET SHOP BOYS - A RED LETTER DAY SIMPLY RED - SAY YOU LOVE ME WYCLEF JEAN - GONE TIL´NOVEMBER K CI & JOJO - ALL MY LIFE MADONNA - RAY OF LIGHT LUTRICIA MCNEAL - STRANDED MOUSSE T - HORNY 98 THE TAMPERER FEAT. MAYA - FEEL IT TORI AMOS - SPARK THE CORRS - DREAMS ALL SAINTS - LADY MARMELADE I haven't gotten the discs yet, so I ask, is the quality of these videos any good? I'm imagining the sound is good having intended to be played through a jukebox. Also, found this video on Youtube featuring a Laserdisc Jukebox . . . Pioneer Laserdisc Jukebox . . . the internals look similar to the image in Edwin's first post here. Though the way the clamper slaps down on the disc kinda scares me! Do those Jukes only play 8" LDs or can they play CDs as well? I was at a Waffle House over the weekend and they had a similar looking machine (even said "Laser Juke" on it), but looks like it had CD covers in the display case (and no monitor for video.) Might have it been converted over to play CDs? |

Picture quality is very good, especially the 1999/2002 onces. Most discs have the laserjuke logo in right top of the screen (only the 1992/1993 not) The laserjuke players only were build to play 8inch NTSC Analogue sound discs no compact discs. I agree there might be confusion as there are CD changers that carry the laserjuke name but this has nothing to do with laserdiscs. |

Yeah, I started looking up more of the LaserJuke machines and verily some are CD only. Though here's another video of a guy with one setup in his bedroom . . . Laserjuke Test . . . I now want to get one of these, but I can't imagine they're cheap or easy to fix these days! |

I prefer to play the discs on my regular player, rather that such a bulky player in my livingroom, these are for sure my favorite series of music discs. Could have bought such a changer once, not so easy to come by and sometimes they go for big money. Let's Juke... LaserJuke! |

Hereby a black version of the autochanger, note there are 2 versions of the title sheets that were included - one with a blue background - one with just a text (this is the most modern one)

Well, those 8" music video LDs came in the mail and I'm enjoying them muchly. Only problem is, they only came in the little vinyl sleeves. Don't suppose anyone knows of any cardboard covers that would fit these babies snugly? Was thinking that 45rpm jackets might work, but forgot that those are only 7" in diameter. 78rpm jackets are slightly too big at 10" in diameter. Any solutions? I was thinking of getting some of those 78rpm jackets and cutting them down to size if no one else has any better ideas. |

All discs I own are in a white sleeve without any text, with on one side a round hole so you can see the whole label, the insert for the jukebox was stuck on the outside of the sealed sleeve. Also here all Pioneer US onces are soft and the (post 2000) Pioneer Japan onces are more stiff. Nowhere found any alternative fitting sleeve so far for 8inch discs. |

Well, this is what I was thinking of . . . 10" 78RPM cardboard jackets . . . one of those don't have the hole for the label, so I would just get them and cut them down to 8 inches. Maybe leave a little bit on one side of one of the edges so it can be folded over and glued down. |

Ro-Disc in the Netherlands had high quality 8" protection sleeves made especially for the 8" LaserDiscs. I still have some left. Brand new and unused if anyone is interested. They are clear, glossy and tight fit as per photo. Cheers! Robert

I just recieved 40 of these. i was thinking they must pretty rare. all have at least 1 australian song. so i was thinking they must be australian releases. i was guessing there would be no more than 100 of each released for australia. probabley even less than 50. video jukeboxes were rare in aussie pubs. and the ones we did have were branded night life and ran vcd's. i have about 150 of these i copied from a friends collection.have you been able to find anymore details about these disc. do you know how many were produced. |

I would love to have a digital copy of those discs! (I'm a collector of video clips) At this moment I'm transferring 12" discs that came out of a Pioneer LD changer stationed at "The Box - Music television" From USA and UK. All discs are NTSC with analogue sound... Most of the discs are mid to end 90's. 1 discs is loaded with promo's for the Box. |

I've seen this discs over time come up for sale on Ebay. Never bought any for the material is often mainstream pop or at least not of my taste. Didn't know they we're analog only, another negative. 90's material was in that transitional period from VHS to DVD in about 97. A lot of promo vids never got a decent digital transfer, especially the underground or wave materials. Unfortunately these LD's don't have much of those materials from what I've seen and the ones they do have are found in acceptable or better digital format. Elvis |
