Got this disc and its fascinating ....its all about the road, the crew and setting up for each show...everything backstage...

When the first side ended i thought...gee if thats the whole film its okay by me!!

But....yes...side 2 is the actual show. AWESOME

The only thing.....i was debating whether i would mention it or not... The commentator is not really fitting...it sounds like either a 70s educational documentary or an NFL film...

Well to my suprise....not really.... At the end of the credits it says NFL films!!

If youve seen the video Faithfully by Journey, its like an edited version of this whole movie...life on the road....and at the end of the film....you got it!,they show the video

A very cool thing!'!!

Yeah that is one of the cool rock titles only released in Japan. In general I love collecting those old TE-DXXX series LDs.
I think some of the concert audio is real and other parts are dubbed as some tracks just sound identical to the album!

thank you for that....its real obvious that the band is not playing whats on audio...but i wasnt sure if it was a best of live mix from the tour....post edited...or the actual studio album... gotta give props to the whole concept and the fact that the studio record is mixed as if it is a live concert!!!

It was good value because of almost 2 hours worth of content, albeit the first hour a documentary.
That particular title has also never been re-issued on DVD - I suspect it never will as the documentary is something of a time capsule.
Only gripe was the intro track Don't Stop Believin' gets ruined by the commentary of the speaker over the top which is a shame as the footage to accompany it was great.

Possibly also of interest if you are a Journey fan are the Bad English LDs:

Image

There are US and Japan editions available featuring Jonathan Cain & Ricky Phillips from Journey who were originally part of the Babys with John Waite
and who joined forces again in the late 80's to form the supergroup Bad English complete with Neal Schon. They feature all the videos from the very successful debut album
along with interview footage of all the members of the group.

Bad English went on to release one more album Backlash (appropriately named) which was a commercial flop. I've at least one video "Straight to Your Heart" from that second album on promo laserdisc.
I really love the laserdisc format for stuff like this as none of these videos are available on DVD.

Thanx for that as well! I by chance was listening to a radio program where the dj was commenting on the band and playing some tracks, but never said the name of the group....

Does Cain do a lot of the writing?.

Yes and Neal Schon is also a prolific writer. Both have released many solo albums.
