There are quite a few laserdiscs available featuring the band Berlin and/or Terri Nunn:

Image

Terri Nunn starred in the movie Thank God It's Friday (1978) [SF078-5134]

She later rejoined the band Berlin and had sufficient success that a compilation of music videos from Pleasure Victim and Love Life albums was issued on laserdisc in 1985.
Berlin: Berlin (1984) [PA-85-122]
I was always surprised this didn't get released in Japan as there are quite a few Berlin compilation CDs only available as imports from Japan so they must have been
quite popular.

The back cover of this title is a bit cheap as it shows one of the band members clearly standing on a telephone book to give him a bit of extra height in the group photo:

You'll also find a few of those videos featured on the following music video compilations:
Geffen Vintage 80's #1 (1995) [ID3141GF]
New Wave Hits of The 80's (1994) [ID2962RH]

Also in 1985 Terri recorded the song "Dancing in Isolation" for the film Better Off Dead which is available on laserdisc Better Off Dead (1985) [7083-80].

Berlin's big break though came with the track 'Take My Breath Away' for the movie Top Gun which is often the only track many people remember Berlin for these days.
Thankfully a live concert from 1987 was released on laserdisc Berlin: Wam Bam, Live in Japan (1987) [SM058-3170]. This really shows the massive change in style from pop band to fully fledged rock band. It is a shame they split up shortly afterwards.

In 1989 Terri Nunn performed a duet with Paul Carrack called "Romance", which was included in the soundtrack to the film Sing. This is also available on laserdisc and to date has never been re-issued on DVD so definitely worth hunting down. I liked the soundtrack to Sing so much I purchased the LP and CD versions. Also shown below is the debut Berlin LP - Information from 1980 which has never been issued on CD. That is a mint copy of the vinyl LP shown which is quite tough to find these days along with the 7" of 'A Matter Of Time' which didn't feature Terri Nunn at that particular time and also includes a non album B side - 'French Reggae'.

For anyone interested the video for 'Take My Breath Away' is available on promo LD as is 'Like Flames' which is probably my favourite Berlin track of all:

There are also lots of Karaoke LDs available:

Endless Love Song Karaoke: vol.1 (1996) [UN-001]
Everlasting Love Song: vol.03 [HLD-1003]
Greatest Love Song: vol.1 [GU-G101]
Motion Picture Award Winners Best Songs 1955-1996 [MDK-901]
Movie Themes/Oscar Winners (1997) [KWELD 308]
ST Karaoke 2801: Super Stereo Singalong Songs [ST2801]
Superstar Karaoke: Christina Aguilera & 98 Degrees (2000) [SKD 617]Top Hits English Songs 32 (1991) [JLD-128]

Oh my goodness.

Image

That is the most 80s thing I've ever seen in my life. They had that s**t DOWN. Look at that hair! Its fantastic! Well, some of it is fantastic, some of it is terrible (guy on the left). Those guys must have felt incredibly cool at the moment that picture was taken.

The front cover of Terri is stunning with perhaps the most lavish hairstyle EVER invented - certainly a strong candidate for best cover ever.

Here is it in all its glory again but up close:

Image

I've never seen another woman in the world with thar hairstyle.

Whilst this is an easy title to obtain, there are relatively few copies in circulation with truly mint covers.
If the shrink wrap wasn't removed the edges could react and discolour.
Many copies are also very badly creased or have edgewear with virtually all the grey completely worn off.
The copy shown is a beauty - I've a few spares just as good!

I got the Berlin LD for Christmas '85 or '86 (I can't for member which) along with Rick Springfield Platinum Videos LD. I still have both and they were kinda ratty in video quality for LaserDisc - Pioneer used HUGE amounts of analog video NR on the masters to bring them up to LaserDisc quality - No More Words has terrible image blurring from the NR - and Rick Springfield's NR was set so high, that in the video for Loving Touch, the dancers have no legs when they move.

But it was so awesome to own the Berlin videos - especially Sex (I'm A...). I remember first hearing that on L.A. radio stations in the summer of 1982 and it was a slightly less well mixed promo/demo version of the song than finally made for album and video.

I thought the guy standing on the phone book was soooo cute.

Has there ever been a band from Berlin called Los Angeles?

I agree about the video quality. That is the only disc I ever sold that someone wanted a refund because they were disappointed in the video quality so I let them send it back! 'Now It's My Turn' was the best quality of the batch probably because it was filmed in black and white. Great audio on it even though only analogue. I always wondered why they virtually abandoned that track in later years and never seemed to play it live. Still amazing to get titles like this on laserdisc. It was one of the first music discs I really wanted when I started collecting LDs.

Other promo videos of Berlin not on LD.

"Masquerade" - 1983 (ETV)
"Like Flames" - 1986 (many promo services)
"You Don't Know" - 1987 (many promo services)

Saw Berlin in concert in 1999 in Scottsdale, AZ. Fantastic show and I believe they are still doing shows till this day.

That's good to know laserdisc_fan. Have a copy off of Rock America I remastered but wouldn't mind the LD copy if it ever crosses my path.
Also "Take My Breath Away" was released on DVD, Dream Music. Ballads And Love Songs Vol.4 in PCM sound.
Also there is a second version of "Sex" performed on Bananas TV.

Just when I thought there were no more editions of the movie Sing to obtain, I stumbled upon the Japanese version:
Image

Had to get this as I love that movie and also the Terri Nunn duet called Romance.

Had been on the lookup for a mint complete copy of Berlin's live concert on VHD - managed to get the promo edition a while ago:

Image

A small number of copies of this same title on laserdisc have rot although most are fine but I was curious what the VHD version would be like.
