Many! That's why I added a bunch of links (20,580 as of Sept 28th) to Soundtrack Collector. They are still listing LDDb.com as a partner since early 2007.

It all started with a weird Star Wars: A New Hope on a 2-CD B&W set that I couldn't find anywhere in that release (that was a long time ago). Turns out it was a 1986 German 2xCD release, a straight transfer of the LPs.

Just realized I still have a collection listed, completely outdated, there! I should spend some time and update it.

My favorite soundtrack sources:

A real fun to get the whole Indiana Jones soundtrack collection, remasters of Alex North's 2001 score, Jaws, Alien, The Goonies, The Fugitive, Once Upon a time in the West, etc.

The Terminator (1984) on LD and the OST on LP is an awesome combo if you're into 80's styled synthpop.

I have a LaserDisc box set (Record of Lodoss War, VILF150~156) which came with an LP in it, a double-sided picture disc no less! (Parn one side, Deedlit the other.) Haven't played it yet, but when I do I plan to transcribe it to my computer using my Stanton digital turntable.

I collect mainly music on laserdisc but some movies do have fantastic soundtracks so it is inevitable I'll have some music related movies in my collection.

Here are few of my favourites which cover pop, rock, classical and original soundtracks done specifically for the movie:

Many of those brat pack type films such as 'That was then this is now', 'Youngblood' etc had great music scores. There are loads of others to track down.

I know 2011 has not been a good year for Charlie Sheen (understatement of the year!) but back in 1987 he was hot property after starring in Platoon and Wallstreet. The same year he made the not so well known movie 'No Man's Land' starring as a high end Porsche thief! The original electronic music score (by Basil Poledouris) on this film right from the opening scene is superb. It is one of the catchiest soundtracks ever other than perhaps Breakin or Electric Boogaloo 2 which are still impossible to beat. No Man's Land soundtrack was only recently re-issued on CD.

I also love the cool Eddie Van Halen track on the Wildlife movie at the end as the credits roll. That movie hasn't been released on DVD and the laserdisc is so popular is it fairly hard to obtain but worth searching for.

If you prefer classical music Leon has a beautiful original soundtrack composed for the film which perfectly complements the visuals in the movie. The movie would not have had the same impact without the music.

Pic1, row2, far right - that movie is the 1978 film Thank God It's Friday starring a very young Terri Nunn from Berlin! Worth it just to see her but cool disco music throughout.

As a rule of thumb if the CD soundtrack exists for a movie I really like I buy it. If not then I purchase the LP version.

Wall Street! That was also a great movie with a very unexpected choice of soundtrack -- especially since it predates the movie by 6 years -- but a favorite album of mine for years since I found a copy in Japan. Now you can easily get the remaster, but at some point it was very hard to find:

My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (album) - Brian Eno / David Byrne
Image

The 2006 remastered release

Now, listen to this album and you might think "What's so special about it? Samples in loops? African drums?". But remember this is 1981, we're just fresh out of disco years in Europe, sampling and keyboards are still a very unused world, using African drums out of context has never really been done before. Today it's only copy/pasting a few files on a Macbook Pro. At that time it was playing with magnetic tapes and analog devices only!

I was glad Oliver Stone put some more Eno/Byrne tracks in "Wall Street - Money Never Sleeps". I was probably the only one in the movie theater (full of traders, it was a special preview arranged by the Singapore Exchange for its customers) who got the musical reference, but that put a smile on my face :)

Yep totally agree about Wallstreet and have the soundtrack to that as well. Rumblefish is another worthy of mentioning.

So far I have these on both LD and LP:
2001
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
You Only Live Twice
Star Wars

I'd love to have The Ipcress File LD and the Chinatown LP to add in here.

I think the only movie/soundtrack I have that qualifies for this is Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind. I have the LD as well as the first three soundtracks: Image Album, OST, and Symphonic. I also have the 7" single. They all have Miyazaki watercolor illustrated covers, so they make a great set.

Just adding a few more movies that I always liked the soundtracks of:

Image

Savage Streets features a unique soundtrack that was done for the movie for marketing primarily featuring John Farnham but also includes tracks by Michael Bradley, Real Life and 3 Speed.

Class of 1984 features several compositions by Lalo Schifrin who of course has done loads of other soundtracks. You get to hear Alice Cooper, Fear and Teenage Head performing.

Class of Nuke 'em High - the cult B-movie produced from Troma Entertainment borrows the basic storyline from Class of 1984. It also features an interesting soundtrack as does the sequel.

I lied, I actually have both the LP and LD of Grand Prix (1966) as well as the (rather amazing) 1963 book The Cruel Sport by Robert Daley on which it is based:

Image

Here is the Nausicaa stuff. Three soundtracks and a 7" single as well as the individually released LD.

Image

I almost certainly have some Disney stuff that lines up as well. I'll post those when I figure out which ones I have.

Another personal favourite of mine is the cult horror movie - 'Black Roses'.
If you are a heavy metal fan this is a must see film.

Image

The laserdisc is tough to find and the CD of the soundtrack will cost you about $50 but it is worth every cent!

The soundtrack was released by Metal Blade Records and features:
Bang Tango - "I'm A Stranger"
Black Roses - "Dance on Fire"
Black Roses - "Soldiers of the Night"
Black Roses - "Rock Invasion"
Black Roses - "Paradise (We're on Our Way)"
David Michael-Phillips - "King of Kool"
Hallow's Eye - "D.I.E."
King Kobra - "Take It Off"
Lizzy Borden - "Me Against the World"
Tempest - "Streetlife Warrior"

Most of the music for the band "Black Roses" was performed by the members of King Kobra, with Mark Free on vocals, and Carmine Appice on drums.

Black Roses - "Paradise (We're on Our Way)" is like something Giuffria would have recorded.

Another rock band themed music laserdisc that is a must have is 'Shock 'em Dead:

Image

A loser dreams of being the best rock star in the world.....he gets his dream to come true but at a huge price!
Michael Angelo Batio performs the actual guitar sequences in the movie which are incredible....it is strong set of songs throughout the movie.
It also features Traci Lords as the manager of the rock band.
