I can see there are three different japan releases:

Queen: Magic Tour Live [98LS 2006]
Queen: Magic Tour Live - Live in Budapest (1986) [CSLM 774]
Queen: Live in Budapest (1986) [TOLW-3302]

Is there any actual difference as far as audio and video is concorned?
Are all of these sourced from the same master or the last one, TOLW-3302, has been remastered?

I am trying to figuring out what's the best version available otherwise, if they all look and sound the same the only appeal is the sleeve :D

I can't answer your question, sorry, but wouldn't the PAL release be the best as far as picture is concerned..?

If the original recording was in PAL then possibly yes, if it was NTSC then pretty much no way.

It was actually shot and edited on 35mm film for cinema release. I would be very surprised if it wasn't transferred direct to PAL for the video releases, as Europe and Australia were a major Queen market.

Whether the NTSC version would also have been transferred from the film, or was a PAL->NTSC conversion, I don't know... they were very popular in Japan and South America, less so in North America.

Well if it was shot on film, a PAL version would then be sped up 4% so you'd definitely want an NTSC version.

And as for your original question, the answer is obvious; you must buy all three.

I can confirm that all PAL releases of Live in Budapest have been sped up, so you'll want one of the Japanese ones. I've got the UK release (It's actually my avatar) but it's hard to go back to after getting used to the excellent Blu Ray release at the correct speed.

And the blu-ray has a LPCM track too...

I own the version that you listed 2nd. That version is sourced from a PAL video tape, so it is sped up (fast pitch) and frame interpolated. Hope they all aren't but it is very likely. A number of other Japanese releases I have follow this same pattern. If it got a UK release and no US release, it will be PAL sourced.
