Just curious to see the span and volume of X0's ever manufactured by Pioneer Japan to confirm:

per nicolas santini and suggested by serial numbers only 1500 hld-x0 were produced between 1995 and 1999(over 1000 were made in 1995). This ld was given with hld-x0 purchase. That suggest about 1500 pressed.

I got #3251 which is from March 1995 (Serial: PC1003251T)

Looks like Pioneer:

  • Started counting at 3000
  • Did produce over 1,000 units in 1995
  • Barely 300 units in 1996 (the HLD-X9 probably took most of that niche market)
  • Was probably making more units on request only above 1,350 until reaching 1,500+ in 1999 (here we see ~5 units/months in 1997-1999)

Wow, this is really interesting. I just discovered this!

Mine is QF1004170T so it was most likely manufactured in May/June 1996.

I read in another thread that you solved the P5 error on MUSE discs yourself. I feel like a complete idiot now because I had the exact same problem
with mine in the beginning and I actually had it opened by someone to have the lens/laser cleaned. That solved the problem but I can see now
that I could have saved the money for the repair by simply playing a couple of discs from beginning to end. That was clever.

I am looking forward to reading your review on the X0. It is a wonderful player ( no chroma noise which is amazing ) however a bit sensitive to warped discs.
