If the jacket has a warning across the top stating DTS 5.1 and requiring a decoder then it is DTS 5.1 encoded. If it does not have this and just has DTS surround on the jacket without the warning bar on the front top it is PCM stereo encoded. Vertigo does have a DTS 5.1. After that you have to select DTS decoding on your receiver, you'll need to read your manual for that. Should work fine with an optical connection.

takeshi666 wrote: Dumb question, but which audio track have you selected on your player? If you have it running through toslink it shouldn't matter from what I remember, its not like AC-3 where you must select the correct channel. Your amp should pick it up, Kurtis is right on how it should be but I think its an issue with A/V amp or not selected properly? When I had some DTS discs and toslink connected it was on all the time you needed to find and select it on the amp, my old amp had analog, digital or auto, would never get any digital with auto and it had to be manually selected on digital. But the real answer is \yes the LX-600U supports DTS if all other is connected and selected properly.

All LD players that have a Coaxial and/or Optical PCM output can pass the DTS codec so long as the disc you have actually has the codec embedded on it. So, are you sure you have this version of Vertigo?..... ..... or this one?...... If you have the former, you have the correct disc. Also, on your AV Receiver, it appears your only choice of input sections is "Audio 1" or "Audio 2" for the optical input so make sure your player is plugged into either one of them and see if it works. Also, it appears that your AV Receiver also has a "DTS Mode" option (look on page 153 of your manual) and see if switching between Mode 1 or Mode 2 makes a difference. Hope this helps.

Ah so we have narrowed it down to the integrated amp. Unless someone snuck in a non-DTS disc inside the DTS jacket OP - just read the manual for your AVR. On some AVRs you can assign different digital audio inputs to video inputs. On some this fixed, you need to select the right input which has the right digital input assigned.

That's good to know . Was the optical out still pushing the red LED? Not sure if petercli1 is having this issue since he seemed to indicate that PCM still transferred from the player to the AV Receiver (unless he was really hearing the analog out of the player w/o realizing it).
