I have a McIntosh mld7020 on the way from the Pacific Northwest, I just have a bunch of questions. Like is it good? Does it have all the features of the 97 that was based off of? Are those buttons on the front as satisfying to push as they look like they are? If anybody wants to throw together like a half-assed review of the unit, I'd be much obliged. Cuz honestly there is next to nothing on the internet. Mucho apriciado for your time and consideration, fellow Laserdicks.

Well looking at an old thread about the unit, as far as I can tell it's essentially identical to the 97, but uses higher quality components.

How much did you pay for it?

It's basically a prettied up CLD-97 and all the techs who talked about the unit say that it is no different than a 97 on the inside other than the stock AC-3 RF output if you have the MLD-7020b.

The exterior of the MLD-7020 (without the AC-3 RF output) has a gold-colored bar on the front while the MLD-7020b doesn't.

You'll notice that the 7020b has the "AC-3 RF OUT" designation on the front below the tray while the 7020 doesn't.

Hope they packed it well.
Its a nice heavy player that can and will get that front glass panel broken, if its not already removed to make it look complete.

I'll have the B model, then. Honestly, I really like the gold strip, and my rig is stereo so the AC3 RF Out is irrelevant to me. Good to know, though. Like I said, very little documentation on the net.

Best thing about this endeavor was the price. Just south of 400 dollars when taking shipping into account.

I’m just confirming that the 7020 is a CLD-97 with a different cosmetic front, spacers put on the side to hold the larger cover and the MSB AC-3 RF board added to the 97 audio board.

There are 7020s with factory RF and gold strip. I have one.

You can still buy the glass front from Mcintosh in case they arrive broken but they are two piece, top and bottom glass and eaxh around $300.

300 each, not bad. I remember Grasshopper told me in the past they used to be 400 each.

Macintosh increases prices every few years. It is possible they are $400 now.

And rightly so, storage space and property don't go down in price.

There might have been a transition time where they mod'ed for AC3RF but were still using the old front plate.
