pretty cool, not really a disc like we all know, since the disc is in a caddy.
get it for 3 bills and mess around with it

somewhere out there are those RLV discs that were just like regular laserdiscs and can be played on any LD player

If you feel the need to play with CRV, this is assuredly the deal for you, since there's actually a disc with it, & the "free shipping" will probably save you as much as the cost of the machine. This recording format is basically Betacam on a disc, with the time-compressed component video system. Totally incompatible with LD, even if you were to crack the disc out of its caddy.

correct, but this was the closest to an LD recorder that you could get, correct?
i remember reading about this when it first came out, i think the unit was around 30G and the blanks were 3G or something around that range.

What of the Caddy recoded Laserdiscs can you buy some of those still thou I would imagine very, very, very rare and what of Laserdisc rot issues can the Caddy disc be possible rotted even thou nothing has been recorded onto it yet?

Found a topic going here but its not in English unless one can read what they're saying about (LVM-3AA0).
http://forum.cinefacts.de/160546-sony-l ... 000an.html

I see another (LVM-3AA0) going and the price is a bit steep!

I see that a Pioneer Laserdisc Recorder sold not too long ago for $8grand! I guess it would be super cool for playback as well. ;)

I believe this amazingly cool stuff went to one of us in this forum as I put it in my watch list during auction time.

Actually, a Sony recorder is put on the bay at the moment.

Just search "Sony LVR-3000N Laserdisc Recorder".

You are correct... It was called EditDroid. It was the precursor to today's non-linear editing. Many TV shows in the mid-80's used it. It was a component format with bandwidth similar to Betacam SP. it evolved - or more accurately, inspired, NLE systems such as Avid. James Cameron loved it.

I once saw a Sony HDL-5800 on Yahoo Japan Auctions. Appeared to be an LD recorder of some type, but might have been one of their HDVS pieces of equipment (thus, not compatible with standard LD players.)

HDL series are high-definition uncompressed (not MUSE) component analog video disc machines, with a maximum playing time of about 15 minutes per side.

heres another one for a good deal, my question is do any or all of these machines work with RLV? The blank disc type thats an actual laserdisc and not a caddy?

To the best of my knowledge, none of the Sony machines uses a disc compatible with a home LD player. They are all intended for the "CRV" format, which is much like Betacam, an analog component format.
