I have an Pioneer CLD 2070 in excellent shape with one issue... .The darn front door won't open .... Now that's a problem I need to fix. Anyone else have one of these or a model close to it that has run in to this issue... or if there is any repair information available... the unit (from what I see) is working fine I just can't the the door to open.

On the back there are "Transit Screws) there are 2 of them I can see, One of them is removed but there is still one in.. .I don't know if I should take the other out or if it needs to stay there.... I don't know if it shows in a manual because I can't find the one for this....

Any suggestions? Photos of the back attached

Yeah I see its not really clear but the transit screw is removed, the other screw next to it holds something else in place so no need to remove.

As for door and tray I feel that its something to do with the old grease or even belts, this is over 30 years old now.
If its anything like the 3070 its not easy to get inside, you have the top and then two boards that you need to open up.
Good luck, wait for others who have more knowledge on this player to help and don't rush, these are nice players.

As rein-o said, the issue is not the door itself or a transport screw. The issue is dried up grease that has hardened like a rock over the years on the loading mechanism. This is very common on the CLD-3070 as well and it is a pain to clean up & re-grease due to the nature of the mechanism being complicated to disassemble.

However, maybe not all of it is totally affected. There are some key parts that I found that were the major issues causing the seizure but you still need to be comfortable dissembling part of the unit. What is your feeling about that?

Thanks for the replies... As for the Transport Screw.. that's what I figured (which is good). Good thing, I have 2 other players I can use to verify the shape of our discs and then if I can find the documentation or service manual I may get brave. Yep, it has a few years on us... we purchased these new and continued to buy both discs and machine until the DVD's came in to play... Were trying to sell some of this stuff we just don't use anymore and was glad I could at least get a pretty good handle on the Discs and players... Thanks again for the info... we are in the Nashville Tennessee area, there use to be a shop here that was really good, really fair price and honest but with Covid he finally closed his shop... Oh well.

Oh man, who closed?
I used to go to phonolux for discs, had a nice selection but that would have been 5-6 years ago.
Great Escape used to have a bunch but again around the same time.
Didn't know anybody would buy players or discs for much, Mckays had some discs but nothing great and they were in the .10 to 3 dollar range.
