I can’t find anything at all about this model? Is it another model just with a local variant name?

Hard to figure it out as it’s kinda multi regional with the power but it appears to be NTSC only.

Likely a CLD-D550/CLD-D750 or CLD-D560/CLD-D760 re-badge.

Ah, karaoke. Pioneer CLD-2720K re-badge?

Pioneer also had close ties with NEC and SEGA over the Laseractive modules. Wouldn't be surprised if this is some sort of similar collaboration of sorts.

Very likely yes, without the in/out control on the back and the front slightly re-arranged.

Lol.

Wow.

You guys are fast. :o thanks! :D

Interesting that it supports digital audio…decoding?

So a AC3/DTS decoding box should work with this?

I ask…as I thought that was a late 95/96 thing? But the sticker says 94.

This is my first LD player.

I have a few discs ready to try out on it when it arrives tomorrow.

That link Tradera (think of it as Swedish eBay) is the exact one I bought.

Let me know if there is anything else you would like me to upload or inform about it? Happy to contribute to the database!

It supports PCM digital audio from its internal DAC only.

This player neither has an S/PDIF Digital out for PCM/DTS or an AC3-RF Out for Dolby Digital. Also, AC3-RF outputs only became available from 1995 and later.

I read the VHF and got excited…

But realised momentarily I had mixed RF with VHF….oh boy…VHF VIDEO…I will do my best to avoid using that! :shifty:

I’ve been enjoying this machine for a few weeks now.

But the lack of a remote is annoying….however the fact is hasn’t even got fast forward or chapter skip…is actually killing me!

Is there any kind of “universal remote” option that might be worth pursuing?

I have a couple of universals and at least one of them does support NEC, but the bigger issue will be whether or not even that will actually give you all the controls you'll need; I configured both of mine to operate a Pioneer player but neither of them could still switch audio tracks, forcing me to get an OEM remote.

The perils of owning the only known model!

But I noticed it seems to be a clone of a Pioneer model 2720…and I can see on eBay remotes available from the US and seemingly some “knock offs” from China…

What are the chances the remote is also a clone?

It’s usually a good chance.

Most Pioneer clone machines retained the Pioneer IR codes with the exception of RCA (which includes GE, RCA, & ProScan brands), Marantz, and possibly some others.

If you can get a Harmony remote and test the various IR codes in their database, you can quickly verify what the NEC brand utilized. If it turns out to be Pioneer, that’s a plus as you should then be able to obtain a Pioneer branded remote more easily or just keep using the Harmony.

The original remote for a CLD-2720/CLD-V840 would be the CU-CLD047 which appears to be going for about $25 on eBay; pretty reasonable.
