I did get the player. Haven't had time to really take a look at it (thanks to a bout of food poison from a cookout that I didn't want to go to). Don't know yet if the "free" deal was good or not, but I cut and programmed 2 keys for his truck and my cost was about $15 so we'll see. I'll try to get some pics of it up tonight. |

Haven't done much yet, but pop the case off. It does power up and the remote at least changes the sound. The tray will come out, but when I put a disc in, it loads, then immediately rejects it. Once I get to feeling a little better, I'll follow the guide and give it a good cleaning. Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment:

Looks to be in decent condition . Especially in respect that the tray pops out, it does make it a little easier to get to the mechanical sections that lowers the tray that you really need access to clean (maybe more like chisel) and re-grease. My 3070 is so totally seized that I will have the difficult task of extracting the tray first before I can get to everything else. Anyway, once you get it fixed, you should go and find the original remote for the unit (the one you posted is for an industrial / educational single side player). Here's the one you need.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/195263618183?h ... R4qSypDZYA You might want to keep a search on eBay for a “Pioneer CU-CLD015” as they do come up from time to time at a better price than the one listed here. |

Thanks for the heads up on that. Search has been saved...now time to break out the hammer and chisel on this stuff. Can anyone confirm this was actually grease and not jb weld? |

Yeah.... it "was" grease . You'll notice the old grease is brownish orange in color and you'll want to replace with white lithium grease as it's safer for plastics. |

Yeah, I meant the glue, I still run the one from my dad, its a great player once fully working. Need to see what is wrong with flipping, it was working but I just don't have time right now to bother with it. |

I've just been taking it apart a little at a time (I work from home so it's what I do during meetings...lol). Gopro filming, screws put in separate baggies for each step...trying to make it bad memory proof. |

funny story, I kept hearing a rattle as I was following the grease guide and I finally found it. 1 little gear with a slotted shaft. I did figured out where it should go...just got to figure the best way to put it back together. Attachment:

Much appreciated. I just keep taking baby steps and one day this WILL work. Since I'm in knuckle deep on this, I might as well replace the drive belt. Would anyone happen to have handy the part number or source for it? |

geekdom wrote: Would anyone happen to have handy the part number or source for it? We have a hardware database. Here is the link for the CLD-3070 that has the service manual. https://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pio ... /CLD-3070/ For belt replacement, I don't think you need to replace any belts that have "teeth" on them as they seem to be bulletproof; focus on the belts that don't. |

Thanks for the info. A pair of locking pinning tweezers (good for gripping) and a sharpie (to note the flat spot on the gear) and got everything mated back up. |

Good work on the fix . In regards to the service manual, forgot to mention that it’s not complete as it lacks a parts list section that includes the model number for the belts. I think someone cross referenced the appropriate size of some of the belts but I’ll have to research it. |

What a service manual that doesn't show all steps or possible issues...I'm shocked!!! Working with the gears, did some checking to see if any of the 3D print sites already had files for replacement parts, but not finding much and while I've may have been a Solidworks server admin for a decade and a half, I can't use it to save my life...looks like that's justification for that 3D scanner I've been looking at. |

Got it mostly back together. Everything opens and closes, but makes a sound like something isn't aligned correctly so it's still a work in progress. We were out thrifting/yard selling over the weekend and I may have picked up a CLD-D703 along with several vcr/vcr-dvd combos in a package deal. It did come with a remote. I haven't opened it up to do anything yet, but it played the couple LD's I threw in it. |

The 3070 tends to be mechanically noisy in general. Here are a couple of vids that I made of the one I worked on after getting the unit re-greased.... The CLD-D703 is great model; essentially the 3070's fifth gen sister. |
