Hi all.

I currently have a Pioneer CLD S315.
I can read the video of these two discs (see links below), but on the Stevie Nicks it prompts "Analog Sound" and on the No Nukes it prompts "No Sound".

I've tried a Pioneer CLD 950 that was on sale nearby and if it seems to play the Stevie Nicks (the guy had no tv connected to the player to hear the sound, but the two chanels were lit on the front panel), it simply ejects the No Nukes without even trying to play it. (Must say the disc itself doesn't look very pretty. But it plays on my 315).

Can anyone direct me to a player that would support both discs please ?
(if there is any ...)

Thanks in advance.

Many low-end PAL players do not support analog audio on PAL discs due to them being a minority against digital audio discs.
I'm not that knowledgable in PAL players, but I know that the CLD-D925 is one unit with both analog and Digital support.

You really need to do a google search, this has been posted as to which PAL player you really need.
Good luck on collecting the format.

Thanks. It appears it has been alreay answered before on this forum.
Analog sound laserdiscs

I still have two questions.

*/ On the No Nuke LD, the sound is listed as dolby surround. Do I need a special add-on device or will it play in stereo on most players ?

*/ Any idea as to why the CLD 950 ejects the No Nuke LD without even trying to play it ? Is that a feature on some device to reject a disc it cannot play fully (my 315 plays the video at least).

Thanks in advance.

Dolby surround is a method of sound mixing, and not a true seperate format. A dolby surround track will play just fine on anything with stereo speakers

The CLD-950 was probably designed to remove things deemed unnecessary, and at time of release the majority of new releases were Digital audio, so Pioneer decided not to implement even support for playing LDs without playable audio

This is normal. On page 7 of the User Manual:

https://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pioneer/CLD/CLD-S315/

Quote:
If analog audio discs with PAL system is played, no sound comes out. At this time, "ANALOGUE DISC NO SOUND" appears on the screen.

Hardware entry is here: Pioneer CLD-S315

It DOESN'T have the "This PAL Player can play Analog Audio soundtracks".

A quick check in the database for this specific feature gives (for Pioneer):

  • CLD-1200
  • CLD-1400
  • CLD-1450
  • CLD-1600
  • CLD-2950
  • CLD-600
  • CLD-600
  • CLD-D515
  • CLD-D515 (AC3RF)
  • CLD-D925
  • CLD-V2120D
  • CLD-V2300D
  • DVK-1000
  • DVL-919E
  • DVL-919E
  • DVL-919E
  • LD-1100
  • LD-1100
  • LD-1100
  • LD-700
  • LD-V4000
  • LD-V4100-H

The Pioneer CLD-950 can't play PAL Analog (confirmed from the User Manual as well: https://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pioneer/CLD/CLD-950/)
