Hi! Someone somewhere said that the Onkyo DX-V370 is actually a Pioneer clone (which means ... rebranded...?). Any ideas as to which one? And is it any good? |

Well cosmetically it does somewhat resemble a Pioneer CLD-406, although I can’t confirm the Onkyo model is actually based on this player unfortunately. |

I doesn't have the same back though, but maybe that's something that would change between revisions. |

This Onkyo appears to be a hybrid of a Pioneer, CLD-D606. From what I can tell, the Onkyo is a bit of a downgrade since it appears to lack the digital field memory circuit found on the 606 for CLV LD special effects playback. Of course, the 606 does not play VCD like the Onkyo but that's not really relevant in the age of DVD & Blu-ray. As for picture quality, I couldn't say how good or bad the picture and sound quality could be but I assume it's on par with other Epsilon Turn players from the same era. Pioneer cld-d515 (European) one The Onkyo is only ntsc. The videoboard is a modified one. power supply board has some other value caps but nothing spectacular. |

It's nearly identical to CLD-D406 except that DX-V370 doesn't have optical output. CLD-D606 has S-video output whereas DX-V370 doesn't. I think its internal is more like a CLD-D390 with VCD playback function. |
