And is affordable or no? Keep in mind my player is not only LIKE NEW condition cosmetically and internally but I believe it's been rated as one of the top 5 players on LDDB even with the obnoxious 5 or 10 percent of the right side of screen cut off. It gives off a great picture and it reads warped or scratched discs without issue. I have not had any audio or video distortion problems with this player. However I am always aiming to get another player to either be a backup or replacement. However I am struggling to find an affordable option for anything that might rated above this. I think some people say the cld-97 and cld-95 are better but it's such a small percent and I'm not sure if that's the fact it doesn't have a weird defect like cutting off a small percent of the right side of the screen or if those players have better chroma or better overall picture quality. I don't even see any cld-95 or cld-97 on ebay at the moment and when they do pop up people are asking prices that exceed what I would pay. I think I've seen them selling for around 600-800 range in recent times. Now does anyone actually buy these for those prices? Not sure but the listings are no longer up whether sellers decided to keep or try to sell else where without ebay taking a percentage.

I think I rather get an LG, LP532.

It's amazing when LG was Goldstar back in the 80's, they never made an LD player but now they want to make a statement w/ their first one for the 21st century.

They would have to change their name to X-LG.

I don't know I just picked up a Pioneer CLD-53 and from what I read on Moe's he called this an average player but I think it looks gorgeous. The picture is softer than Panasonic LX-900 revision 1995 but I actually don't think that's a bad thing. I think the Panny's might be overly sharp and expose more issues with this format with weird fizzy lines. I haven't done a bunch of tests on this player yet so I don't know if it's just the tv I have it hooked up to right now which a 40-45 inch or 50 inch lcd tv that might be hiding flaws but I think the picture quality on the Pioneer CLD-53 is pretty good for a player I was led to believe was average video quality. If this is average video quality than I'd say my LX-900 revision 1995 is an average sharp video quality. I don' think I would pick my LX-900 over this player but I still have to do more research and more tests before I give the CLD-53 a solid approval. Now is it average in the sense that it is probably missing features the LX-900 has such as probably scanning better(i haven't tested this out yet on the cld-53 because I'm waiting for remote and I didn't fast-foward the player from the front yet) or still frame. Yeah but I don't think still frame is a deal breaker. I believe the CLD-53 can't still frame but I don't watch laserdiscs just to still frame which is a nice feature but I watch it to enjoy movies on a format I could have never owned as a kid and didn't even know existed until recently.

So I do notice something weird about this player. It seems to take awhile to eject a disc. I do not know if that's normal for this model. It might be about 10-15 seconds to eject a disc which I never have experienced on my Panny players. I really hope I don't have to open this up and repair it by replacing a band. I'm sure you'll all tell me that's easy to do but I just don't want to do it. Afraid I might mess something up. Is it normal for this player to take awhile to eject discs? I believe this CLD-53 has been said to be a rebadge CLD-D503. Is this correct? If so that would mean those players would take awhile to eject discs too unless there's something seriously wrong with this players eject feature.

Edit: Now it's ejecting immediately. I do not know what's going on. Hope a belt doesn't have to be changed. Even if it's a simple fix I'm paranoid about opening stuff up to fix.
