Got a seller on Facebook with a Pioneer CLD-980 they're selling for their father along with 28 disc's. Sounds like it's been kept in very good condition. Asking was $200 I've got it down to $175. Assuming everything is working fine what is the opinion on this player. Good model? Does it have a good reputation? Thanks in advance for any opinions.

In my opinion, $175 is too much for a low end player like that even with discs thrown in (but maybe if there is a rare title it might make up for it).

You’d be better off being very patient for something that will turn up locally. I’ve gotten some incredible deals doing just that and great players to boot.

Well I bit on it last week because I really haven't had luck locating anything working locally. It mighy have been a tad prucy but the damn thing works beautifully. I'm sure I could hqve it hooked up better (using a rca to hdmi adapter which I know aren't thought of highly but seems to be getting the job done for now). I am just happy to have a working player with a remote that can play everything I have. I threw on my Criterion copy of Lawrence of Arabia and was really impressed with how it looked. They did that film's restorwtion right from the beginning.

Well, if you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters. :)

It’s probably a more durable player than an S201 or S104.

Please don’t ship LD players. When you are bored with it please sell it locally.
