Just want to congratulate you on a working player!
Screen shots look great even from a R7 user

It's a good player but the smearing annoys me. I notice it on my lcd tvs. I do not know if it's noticeable on crt tvs because I have not tried it on that. I believe my Panasonic LX-900 does not smear but that player cuts off about 5 percent of the right side of screen. I don't think the smearing is this bad on my elite cld-53. Now I believe the 3080 does have the smearing issue similar to the CLD-99. The thing is the only Pioneer player that doesn't have smear is the HLD-x9 from what i've heard. Also some CLD-97 users claim they have no smear but I don't believe that. Isn't the CLD-97 and CLD-95 based on the CLD-3080? The HLD-x9 is expensive and I'll never own it. The LX-900 would be damn near perfect if Panasonic didn't have a defect that cuts off a small portion on the right side of screen.
