substance wrote: I already own a dvdo vp30. There is a person I know he wants to sell his c2 for $1000. He says he tried many vps and c2 is the best for ld. My ld player is cld 97. I also watch fios sd and hd programing and occasionaly hd internet streaming. My dvdo is superb with deinterlacing scaling sd but poor comb filter and doesnt scale 1080i to 1080p properly.it also doesnt have any noise reduction(i dont iknow if this helps lds). Please help i must decide soon You can fix the comb filter problem for cheaper than 1000 dollars. Just about any old DVD recorder I've tried has had a better comb filter than the one in my DVDO. Also, nowadays, noise reduction tends to be mosquito noise reduction, which LD doesn't suffer from (because it's uncompressed) and it just ends up blurring the image.

substance wrote: There is a person I know he wants to sell his c2 for $1000. Is that the CII VPS 3800? If so, then that is a bargain price you got there. And it's well worth that kinda money. If it is the CII VPS 3300, I'd rather stay away from it because it lacks many functions from the 3800. There was a third model too, but I forgot its number, sorry. Also AFAIK this number is not on the front plate. (at least not on mine) You can identify the 3800 on the backside, it has two firewire ports on the left, between network/usb and the digital audio ports. The 3300 has nothing there. Also make sure to ask the seller if this unit has had the EDID hardware update done. This was done free of charge by PixelMagic, but you had to send the unit to them. Cheers!

substance wrote: It is the 3300 with original box,two remotes. Seller said it has the latest fw. I will ask about edid but he bought it used too so I dont know if he d know. Is there a way to tell if edid? What are the differences between this and 3800? Beside media player,hd sdi? I'm sorry I was thinking hard but cannot remember... Best is if you try to look up some old threads about this on avs or so... Just search for "Crystalio" there and you might find some information. Or maybe Crystalio + EDID or something. Crystalio II is past... Lumagen or DVDO50 Pro are the best. Spend your money on the best or don't spend it. The middle was never a good thing

substance wrote: About the Crystalio II vs DVDO VP30 with abt 102. Crystalio outperforms it easly in LD and high def sources. Its comb filter is superb. DVDO might a bit better in 480i de-interlacing for already digital sources(DVD,digital cable etc..) but thats the only point I would give to DVDO. Everything else Crystalio outshines it. Gennum chip is pretty close to Faroudja for analog 480i de-interlacing. I am still tweaking its comb filter. Can one of you Crystalio owner give me your settings for LDs? My settings are probably terrible, and I usually change them a lot, depending on the disc that is in the player. Just never start to try and set the colors using the CII, that kinda does not work properly and ends in a huge mess. Also, I use both Composite and S-Video. Composite seems to look a bit more neutral (using my settings), while S-Video basically needs tweaking each time because I always think it might get just a bit better... until I change the disc
