It was the day the first ac-3 ld reached Antwerp! Clear and present danger

The ac-3rf mod was about 200 euro in today’s money.
The sony mod-rf1 demodulator was about 185 euro
Clear and present danger most likely around 55 euro
… not to mention the much needed “decent high end” cabling that you “needed”
Some of this doesn't sound quite right???
If you're saying that you purchased "Clear and Present Danger" back in 1995 when it was a new LD release, you couldn't have had an opportunity to buy a Sony, MOD-RF1 since they didn't start coming out until around '97 or '98 from what I recall.
Standalone RF Demodulators were a byproduct of the lack of internal Demodulators in AV Receivers and Sound Processors when companies were starting to phase them out w/ the decline of LD. From the start of 1995, the only AC-3 products available were the LD players themselves w/ the new AC3 jack, a small number of AV Receivers (e.g.: Pioneer, VSX-D3S being the first w/ an AC3 RF Demodulator and a Digital Input), and outboard processors designed to take advantage of the current generation of analog only AV Receivers that included an analog 5.1 audio input (e.g.: Pioneer, SP-99D, Sony, SDP-EP9ES, Marantz, DP-870, etc.).
