CLD-99 or CLD-3080? I currently have a fat Sylvania tube tv in my room that supports composite and s-video. Would it be better to have the CLD-99 in my room and the CLD-3080 downstairs? Does the 3d comb filter help a lot with the cld-99 on older tvs or do you think it doesn't really matter? What is your recommendation? The one that will be in the main living room will probably get more usage.

Chroma noise on the CLD-99 is pretty bad, haven't seen the CLD-3080.

(noise in highly saturated colors, red especially , horizontal lines visible)

it depends what you mainly watch on the big TV. if it's movies mainly, the CLD-99 will do)

you can crank up the Chroma Noise Reduction in the special Comb Filter menu.

I'm still confused on which player should be for my living room. Does one give off better visuals? I want to watch The Fifth Element on laserdisc with my dad in the not too distant future. Would it be better if I watched it on the cld-99 or cld-3080? The one problem I have with the cld-3080 is sometimes it randomly stops flipping the laser to side B. I have taken it apart several times and each time I do it fixes up temporarily but then usually messes up later on.

I might have to stick with the cld-99 because the cld-3080 is showing it's age and I believe it has a different flipping laser mechanism that might be having issues just because the player itself is ancient. It's going to be 34 years old depending the 1990 yr/month it was released. However, if I have the cld-99 in my room I can take advantage of the s-video's comb filter on a crt tv but I don't really watch laserdiscs in my room as much as I do in the living room.

You put the one there that you prefer the picture. That's it!!!
Each person has opinions that differ, no definite answer just personal opinions. Just do what makes you the happiest.
