Anyone know anything about Kelinchi laserdisc players? All I can find out is that it was a trademark that was registered by a company that was selling home electronics etc., and is now abandoned. There's currently a player on offer on ebay UK, I've never heard of them. My guess is that it's something rebadged, not sure what. I'm trying to find out more from the vendor.

I'd get it and open it up and post some pictures but I'm not in the UK. That seems a good price being that it wouldn't set someone back by much. It does look like it was imported from asia but I really don't know on it.

I'll keep an eye on it, if it doesn't attract bids I'll go for it, but any piece of crap typically goes for a lot more in the UK and I don't actually need another, so it isn't exactly a priority. The vendor says he'll let me have more info tomorrow, that might clarify things a bit.

I'm no expert but it looks a bit like a Sony player to me.

The blue-lit text in the upper right hand side is Japanese, so we at least know that much.

Not 100% sure that's text, one of those looks very vaguely like the Dolby logo, another like some sort of timer symbol. The picture is very badly focused which doesn't help.

Maybe someone can deduce further from this - that second character is hiragana right?

I tried to look it up in my Japanese textbook but it looks squished together and all I can make out is the "no" which is the second one from the left.

Yeah, that's the character "no" usually meaning "of."

Dunno what the kanji are though.

Finished at over £50 (about $80) including delivery - the vendor posted one additional picture showing the outputs, analogue sound and composite video only, and so far as I can see it was NTSC only, so I wouldn't have bid nearly that much.

That was a smart pass, maybe the new owner will find the site and share info.
