| Post subject: | AC-3 RF mod to Panasonic LX-900u? |
Has anyone here added an AC-3 RF output to the Panasonic LX-900u player? Added the RF output by themselves, I mean, not using MSB back in the day or Kurtis now. If so, how hard was it? Precision LaserDisc's old site lists the LX-900 mod as a "7" on a scale of 1 (easy) to 10 (very difficult). The guy selling the mod chip and instructions in Germany sent me the instructions so I could get an idea if I could do it or not. It seems very difficult... especially with no pictures. And I don't want to brick my player because I really, really love it. So, any help or advice would be appreciated. Or should I just have Kurtis do it? I think he quoted $150 or so. |

The thing with the 900U is that you have to get to points to both boards and they are sandwiched together. Just not as easy to access as the Pioneer players. |

I can't speak for the LX-900u, but I just did a mod of the Pioneer CLD-97 myself the other week. I made a full step by step instruction guide. Some if you can probably use like the mounting of the RCA plug. Also, you can see the difficulty of soldering on the circuit board as an example. I would take a look, it should probably give you a pretty good idea of what your going to have to deal with. I think the CLD-97 also rated somewhere around a "7" on difficulty as well on their website. Here is the thread which has a picture and a link to the full guide: http://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1110 |
