Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you all know that my brother and I managed to successfully mod the player. Works like a charm!

Many thanks, once again, to all those that helped make this happen. :)

great'
I have succesfully installed the boards from ebay. I ussually remove the optical output.

This photo is a cld-d515 with a part cut of the backpanel coming from a donor player I did years ago.
I only soldered in the missing components on the original main board

This one will work fine.....

https://www.ebay.com/itm/333553251139

It also comes with an AES/EBU digital out (the XLR output) but you can remove it (or keep it and drill a really big hole for it on the back of the player ;)).

Thanks ldfan,

I just ordered it.

Do I have to do something with the part inside the red circle?

I will do my best!

That is where the included coax cable is screwed on to and the other end is soldered to a point in your player to get the S/PDIF signal

Unplug your player, pull board and flip it.

Yup...the chip is on the other side of the board since it is a surface mount IC.

Just the same with my CLD-M90 I just modded...

Yes. I’ve been working along fixing a bunch of my past posts due to my photo sharing site doing this incredibly irritating mass delete; don’t know why I bother sticking with them.

I’ll update it later today. I know which pictures they were.

Update..... go back to page three to see the updated pics.

Ok, for me as a rookie I need some more advice, please

Ive bought the Wadia Optical out board and I have different cables coming from this board. At which place I have to connect the sgn and the 5v cable on the main board?
Contact 44 at the IC802?

Thanks in advance!

First off, you have the wrong pin. It should be pin 43 of IC-802....

Image

In order to solder to this pin without damaging the IC, you want to find a alternate point that will be much larger and you do this by simply following the trace coming from the IC and confirming it's the correct point w/ a voltmeter in continuity mode (it will beep on most voltmeters to confirm continuity). Here is an example from my CLD-M90.....

Image

For my mod, I decided to solder from the opposite side of where I had found the point. This was convenient for me as the point was a "through hole" that allowed me to insert the pin of my cable through the board (the green jumper is for GND that happened to be nearby w/ another "through hole" point).....

Image

This may not be an option for you so you might need to run your cable to the green side and then find a good location to run the cable back to the top of the board. However, if you keep looking around w/ your voltmeter in continuity mode, you might just find a "through hole" access point.

As for finding power, there are jumpers everywhere on the orange side of the board w/ labeling like "+5V". I can see at least one jumper on your last pic.

Hope this helps and keep us updated on your progress ;).

Ok,so is it right to connect the board like the way at the attached picture?
Two times GROUND to the housing?

At your picture you have Digital ON/OFF and DIGITAL OUT???

You can if you want to. It won’t cause any issues. However, GND points are everywhere on a board so you have a lot of flexibility to put a GND wire wherever it’s convenient. In other words, you don’t want to stretch out a wire to some really remote part of the board if there is another one closer by.

Here is a pic for illustration....

Image

FYI: All the "yellow" markings represent other GND points and they are clearly marked on the board.

The “Digital On/Off” is something I did not explain in my reply. In any case, some players don’t have their digital outs powered at the IC and if that was the case the digital output won’t work until you do it. It appears on your chip there is no option for it one way or the other so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Oops, our result is that....

Any ideas?

We connected everything as it should be.

Direct connection to PIN 43, two times GND and 5V+ from a point from the board.
Even when we are interrupting all cables that we added, we only see the error, and -off- is blinking
Looks like IC802 Damage?

Did you really go directly to pin 43? If so, that's a very tight squeeze to solder a wire which is why I recommended you find an alternate point w/ a voltmeter in continuity mode.

Are you sure the wire is not bridging to the adjacent legs?
