Some years back, when I got my one-and-only player, a CLD-97 "like new" in the original box and packaging, it was shipped to me from California. I didn't even hook it up I don't think, I immediately shipped it to Kurtis to give it the once-over, calibrate it and install the AC-3 mod. I was so leery of having it shipped, I had him hold onto it until I visited my brother - who coincidentally lives nearby - and went and picked it up. Not sure if it made a difference, but it gave me peace of mind. I think if I bought another player, certainly from Japan, I would have it shipped directly to Kurtis to check out, then go and pick it up again. - Mark

I had my R7G shipped to me from Japan and have had no issues with it :knocks wood. Plus, the players that I've sent out to Duncan at Bayview Electronics for service have come back without issues.

Shocking positively shocking high price is that what the HD–Laserdisc players go for? Let me see if I have this right. Few HD-Laserdisc ever pressed and yet some expects some mug to hand over £3grand! For so few HD-laserdiscs that are out there. I’d give the seller £200.00 and for that I want shipping included because I’m a tight as0s cheep b*****d.

Most people, I think, want these players for their high standard of NTSC playback, courtesy of the superior performance of the pickup & associated electronics. Occasionally something like a Pioneer HLD-V500 turns up, which can play only the MUSE discs, & it doesn't fetch anything like that kind of price. For that matter, other players such as the HLD-1000, or Sony HIL-C1, are supposed to be much less expensive, although they don't seem to come on the market anything like as often.

Hi all new guy here owner of two 704's and a DDP-1. He's posting at our forum and a few of us tried to post warnings about this guy thanks to this forum btw. But the mods deleted them so I'm posting his baited thread here. We tried to post warnings about this idiot at avs but the mods deleted them. He comes into our forum and writes this: Quote: Hi I saw at an auction site a Pioneer CLD-A100 Brand New, and i am curious about it. I also have seen some used go high, but this one is brand new, and i do not mind to pay the asked price as i do not believe i will find any in this special condition.
Just a few questions if some of you can answer:
Will it play NTSC Laserdiscs? The Laservision Games are cool? Will it provide a good picture?
It also comes with Sega Module. Will it play the cartridge directly? Or only Sega CD or Mega CD?
Tank you Then one of our members checks ebay and see's the same name, cross checked it with LDDB forums and low and behold he has his own cararte. Then the member post in the thread questioning MV_Cinema about his reputation and weather the item was even real. Then I just posted two links to lddb forums to let other avs members to be careful Caveat emptor!! He pm's me and misspells this load of tripe: You shouldt talk about people without know the facts first. Thats very bad, and i am not going to admit that. I have a 100% feedback at ebay and i am an honnest person. As for LDDB and my non-completed transactions is because i went by a bad phase of my life, and i passed some transactions for reasons i dont even want to talk. I never did anything to you that gives you the right to offend me. So please contain your words and stop talking like that. Then I reply back saying this: Sorry but your post to the thread was baiting you had no intention of buying that unit because it's yours. The first thing you did was lie in the thread and I don't appreciate that kind of behavior so go someplace else and spread your fodder. Your reputation precedes you, and you only did it to yourself! Regardless of this guys reputation I'll give anybody the benefit of the doubt. But getting caught trying to bait us is just so wrong my book, and as a new member with like 5 or 6 post. I would never ever buy or sell to someone like this, could be a mental thing who knows...

So an X0 shiopped from Japan is half the price of the one at ebay? Hummm...i don't think so. Only for shipping we are talking about $1000 + taxs. And who is going to buy an X0 without full insurance? The only person you cannot go wrong and is a person of 100% trust in Japan is Nicolas Santini.
Another thing, some people have to justify the way they talk here, because my feedback at ebay speaks for itself. I don't have anyone unsatisfied buying from me, i do not cheat people, and if there is a problem with my order i solve it right away, otherwise i wouldn't have 100% feedback. And i don't sell stuff i don't want, i sell things that i don't use.
Second, it is true that i have not completed some transactions here, and the reasons....
1. Sometimes because there are problems on the agreement of the adequate packing (i've had thousands of euros in damage along these years, and i don't take chances) 2. Some of them because it was my fault, as i had a serious health problem (and i still have unfortunelly) and i was away for a very long time and that did not allowed me to complete the transactions. 3. i am solving with the sellers at the momment my pending transactions that sellers are willing to solve.
Maybe i was trying to tell people at the forum that there is a Ultra Rare Unit CLD-A100 at ebay, because it's BRAND NEW. I don't believe there are more like this. I am not trying to sell crap, this is a real deal, as all my deals. Is there something so wrong with that? That's not a problem, a real problem u know what it is...but not this.

What you describe is not wrong. Stupid, probably, but not wrong. To pretend you are not the person selling it, however, that you are interestied in buying what is really your own item, is unpleasantly close to fraud. That is the action of a dishonest person.

I'd trust the vast majority of Yahoo Japan sellers than I would the vast majority of Ebay sellers. I've ordered many items off of there, including a used CLD-R7G, and they've all been top notch items. Even when there are imperfections, they usually show you those imperfections in the auction. Creases in LD covers, scratches on discs, scuffs on electronics--they've shown them all in the auctions. So yeah, I'd take the chance on a seller on Yahoo Japan!
