I bought this LD player off ebay.

The Pioneer CLD-V5000 is great. It comes with a separate barcode scanner (along with some barcodes to scan). Scanning barcodes is kinda pointless but the barcode scanner also has a remote built in (basic funtions; play, pause, skip, etc). I prefer it towards the big remote because it's so small and takes up very little room on my coffee table.

The player itself offers S-video and 2 composite video-outs. Oddly s-video looks better on my big plasma even though everyone prefers composite. There's dip switches on the back. My dip switches are set so that my LD player starts automatically and plays side A then side B.

Two-side play is very quiet.

This is a great budget friendly LD player with great picture quality.

Wow, I didn't know there was a barcode V player made that late. It looks extremely similar to a D604. Does it have AC-3? Most of the V decks I've seen were much older in design, and certainly not with Both Side play. You got a great deal.

There are no AC-3 or digital sound bitstream outputs on the back panel, only S/video, analog/digital audio, Control and RF adapter outputs.

I've got a CLD-V2120D which you can apparently use a barcode scanner with but I've never tried...or owned a barcode scanner to try with.

I'm almost positive the barcode scanner can be used for a wide array of pioneer LD players. The barcodes function exactly how you would change chapters with the regular remote. Instead of the number pad, the chapter info is scanned via barcode (and stored in the remote). Simply hitting the "send/repeat" will bring you to the chapter that you previously scanned.

This barcode feature was used in my drivers ed class way back in highschool. But I can see it being a great asset to guitar teaching LD's. Scan a Jimi Hendrix barcode, learn a little and mess up, hit the "send/repeat" button to go back to the beginning. Or you can simply give up and scan an easier song (i.e a blink182 barcode)
