Kurtis, I did mean the Phillips unit. I would prefer to have a one box solution rather than to buy an outboard dac. Could you give me a price on getting your extra Phillips unit up to snuff? Bob |

Bob Fixing players is a hobby for me so I have limited time to work on them plus a have a few repairs already in the que so it would be a few months. We are probably talking the same price as a CLD-97, somewhere around $500 with all the mods. I have not ever unpacked this unit so I'm not positive of its shape. Picture-wise the CLD-97 would be a better purchase as you can get a better picture and a dual sided player as the 488 is a single sided player. Only issue is the 97 has Bitstream DAC's, but they are high quality Philips DAC's for Bitstream. Multi-bit is just a little warmer. |

you need a dual side player. also you own a player now correct? how is the sound to you on that player? |
