It's the Japanese version of the LD-S2.

usually when you ask a question you have one for sale, or just found and are picking everybodys brain with it.

Yes, the LD-X1 is the Japan version (OR, the LD-S2 is the U.S. version). Can't find anything on an LD-X2. If it's an LD-X1 then based on experience with the LD-S2 it's a very good player. Mechanically sound and very good picture

Think you would need a step down covertor for that, or does it have a 120v power supply?

I might have a chance to pick one up and was just wondering, it needs a very minor repair and was just wondering if it was worth it.

Everything I've read on it makes it a very good player, even if it is a single side player.

Depends if there's a typo here someplace. Is the player in question an LD-X1 or an LD-S2?

Well, if it was the LD-X1. Wouldn't need a convertor if it was the US model!

I also wonder what kind of picture the S2/X1 really produce. I see so many people write that they them selfs have read that its one of the best/better players around, and still, i fail to see how that can be possible, considering it was made in 89 :P

It's the first player to use extensive digital processing and noise reduction, although the NR isn't adjustable. It's also massively built for the lowest noise signal pick up. It's the lowest noise player Pioneer ever offered in the US but it does have its problems like not displaying closed captions due to minor problems with the digital signal processing. The Perfect Vision rated the CLD-97 higher due to lower chroma noise from its digital NR, but on a finely tuned S2, I think it would probably be the better player. The S2/X1 is the base the Hi-Vision HLD-X0 was built upon. The S2 was built by Pioneer just to see how far they could extend the LaserDisc format at the time - an engineering 'stunt' almost.

Looks like you can bypass Ebay if you want, as I believe this is the same player for sale . . .

The power supply uses toroidal transformers for low "noise". Linear drive for the optics. The tray issue is most likely a bad belt and gummy grease. A little "tricky" to get to the parts but not too bad. It's a bullet proof player but packed for shipping will weigh in at about 70 pounds. I've got 3 or 4 in the shop and my back is not looking forward to hefting them up to the bench

LD shop is already at 1700+ and counting.
and he's twice the size of arnold to deal with moving it all
