Chiropractic, what a joke - except for a very, very few limited ailments, it's as effective and about the same as homeopathic medicine, which is to say, completely worthless. If you were asking me how I injured my back, in November 1987 I was stopped at a red light and a drunk lawyer rear ended me. It totally trashed his convertible Mercedes but hardly damaged the bumper on our new 1987 Chrysler New Yorker - but because of the way I was sitting with my foot on the brake, it slipped discs in the L4/5 area of my back. I had surgery in 1989 and again in 1993. Then my first implant in 2003 and a new one in 2007 because the battery had died on the first. The new one is rechargeable via induction through my skin. It helps a lot and I take 25mg of Methadone twice a day since it provides 12 hours of pain relief without the weird 'high' side effects of other narcotics like Percodan or Vicodin. I always had my doubts about chiropractors, they say they can fix everything from a sore back to acne But, on a suggestion from a few friends I went to one (Dr. Bob). He was different, not one of those that wants to see you 3 times a week for adjustments. In fact when he injured HIS back he knew enough to go to a surgeon for repairs. His treatments really did work. The only advice I didn't follow was the exerise instructions (I think I mentioned I loathe exercise, so rein-o you'll never spot me at the gym )

Couldn't agree with you more. Dr. Bob wasn't a back cracker, he did more deep tissue massage. It's one of those "pleasant" pains

Post some, maybe it will calm me down. On top of all this "fun" my UPS driver is on vacation this week and the relief driver hasn't been here yet to pick up. I WANT TO GO HOME I'd leave now but I don't know if I should risk it

Good idea except it's 5 miles of country road between home and the shop (no stores, liquor or other) and I don't drive freeways anymore. If we go to town my wife drives (and I'M Miss Daisy). Our state finally passed a measure shutting down the state owned liquor stores and now booze is sold in the grocery stores or Costco She promised tomorrow We'll see. If I start a drunken thread then we'll know she came through for me

mikeystoyz wrote: Man I am glad I live in California - Alcohol sales on every streetcorner and I have a fully stocked and very nice supermarket right next to where I live. My wife lived in Los Gatos. When she moved her all she did was wonder why there was no booze at the local Safeway. I could never understand why in California liquor stores sold candy bars and such. "I'm going to the liquor store" in California doesn't mean the same thing as it used to mean here. We still don't have the competitive low prices as the taxes are quite high. The estimate is a year or two before we get to California or Nevada prices
