It looks as if another X0 has surfaced on ebay: http://tinyurl.com/8pp7332 At least this one is not $6k, but it looks slightly cruddy from the pics, and the description is slightly disconcerting, with some error codes displayed intermittently by the X0 (the description is a bit hard to understand). It will be interesting to see what this one brings: with shipping from HK at $775, importing one from Japan may be more sensible, with the ability to pick a nice clean example from the Jp market and all.

I've had some slippery deals from Hong Kong in the past so for that reason I wouldn't be bidding on it.
Looks a bit rough too with dents, scratches and playback issues. Might be ok if you are not too fussy and already own one as you could cannibalise it for spare parts.

friend of mine bought a X9 from the same seller earlier this year, but i think at that time it was understood it had issues, and my friend got the guy in HK to send the player directly to duncan for repair, can't remember exactly what was wrong with it. but there is a X0 at yahoo at the moment, which is in working condition and at a low price, so far.

it would only be good if you could get a deal.
i bought my player from singapore, it was damaged in shipping but with repairs it was half the
cost of others selling it at the time.

so that's the only reason i would do it, for a deal.
but it seems high now at 1500 + 775 shipping so that's 2250 and it's not over yet. and then cost of repairs if needed on top of the final price.

also don't forget paypal only covers you for 2K, i lost 200 bucks once from opening a case.

Yeah, it seems that it is already too high for what it is. What is up with that nasty scuff on the tray?

Looks like someone has been eating pizza off that tray......really grubby and neglected looking.
Even a £20 LD player I bought came with a cleaner tray than that.

I think you are on to something. Look at the back panel, in the area above the serial number, and you can see some more nasty stuff that also looks much like mold. A reference to "humid weather" smudging the serial number label also suggests that this X0 has been in a rather musty environment.

It is from Hong Kong which is a pretty hot and humid place.

I think the seller should have cranked up the air conditioning a bit more, because his X0 is now "alive".

Many LDs I have bought from Hong Kong have water or moisture damage on the covers. There are only 2 sellers I know of in Hong Kong where I can get truly pristine copies of titles I am interesting in so I stick with them for all purchases from that terrority. All the other Hong Kong sellers on Ebay are really just selling what I would classify as junk.

On the bright side at least the seller isn't in Portugal...
