In searching for a list of proper remotes for corresponding LD players, I discovered this Pioneer list after getting nowhere with the normal channels of search:
http://www.pioneer.newremotecontrol.com/PioneerLaser.php It's pretty nice in that it gives both the remote ID number and the part number.
Doesn't tell you what remotes might match other players than the original, but it does give you a link to a photo to help with that.
EG, some remotes have no power button since the players had hard switch power buttons, but all other functions work later players, etc.
Also, you may have found out that TRAY EJECT (open/close) on remotes for some of the AC3 models will not work for the other models, though the other functions do work. I've discovered that remotes for 406, 504, 505, 604, 605, 606 have this feature and will substitute for each other.
I also have discovered that the DVL 700 & 90 remote is slightly different from the other DVL remotes (which are interchangable), but they can be swapped in a pinch. And the regular Pioneer DVD remotes will operate the DVL players as well.
I also have learned that nearly ALL Panasonic and Sony LD remotes are interchangable (excepting some of the earliest flip-top or industrial models), and that Pioneer remotes will operate the Mitsubishi clones, but not the RCA or Proscan clones. And I have a couple of Phillips & Magnavox remotes that don't seem interchangable except with their own name brand.

Starman, the 2080 original remote was cu-cld029, aka vxx1418. Sometimes hard to find. You can use nearly any Pioneer LD player remote from around that same time, 1989-1995, eg, cu-cld015, 024, 069, 084 and so on, preferably a dual side player remote. (But not the remotes for the d406, d504, d505, d604, d605, as those remotes are unique to themselves) Either one of these would do: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-pioneer ... 20cdbffcf1http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIONEER-LASERDI ... 2a2689a74aOr even this correct one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-Pionee ... 4abccc238a

It doesn't match the remote model number that goes with the CLD-99 and Google searches only turn up Japanese auctions of the 122 remote but with no reference to which player it belongs to. It's not shown in the list of Pioneer remotes posted above either.
Any help? Disclord, remote cu-cld122, aka vxx2225, came with the Japanese/Asian silver toned players cld-d99 and cld-d99 Elite.

Thanks for that info - its interesting that EAD used Japanese remotes for the TheaterVision. I know the NEC 3D comb filter in the TheaterVision is different than in the stock CLD-99, but I wonder if EAD used any boards from the Japanese D99?

If you want to switch the Audio make sure it has separate buttons for R/L/STEREO and ANALOG/DIGITAL, this is important if you want to change these selections. If you want to repeat you would prefer one with separate A and B repeat buttons but the other button arrangement works when you understand how to use them. This unit also uses the combination stop/eject button where other units/remotes have separate stop and eject buttons.
