is it from HK? think they had those voltage regulators. Only ask the seller if the regulator can be set at 110V, then you should be good.

I owned such a player a few years ago. HK I believe... not sure about that.
It had a 110v-220v selector on the back....

i believe there is a topic about that player, i don't know where it is.
but i think people said that it will have an automatic switching inside, so you don't have to?
i'm not 100% sure but try and find that topic.

hey, this is the topic, and it looks like you asked this before.
http://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1742&hilit=voltage

and if it's the player on ebay now then it says right on the back
"automatic voltage select is provided"
automatic is automatic, no need to switch anything.
just get it and if it's not working then return it since the seller gives 14 days to return it.

right on the front it also says it's a PAL/NTSC player and DVD region 6
so this is not a Japanese player but for another country, so it could be the hong kong.

Those players were sold in Hong Kong, South America and at US military exchanges. Reason being that a member of the military could use it where he/she was stationed and take it home to the US.

Using a SMPS power supply (switch mode), they take nearly any AC voltage and/or cycles and transform it and supply the correct DC voltage to the internals. The only thing you need is the correct plug, they don't have a switch on the back like the older models that used the old style linear power supply.

I have two of these from Hong Kong made by Sony that are just fine on 110, plus the CLD-D515 I have has that same power supply and works on 110 even though it's not shown on the back side. Hence the term automatic.

What you must watch out for is that, even if showing PAL/NTSC on the front, it may not play PAL LDs, It must say it on the backside, The front label refers to either VCDs or DVDs only.

this site says the same thing as you are rixrex. http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/DVL-909.htm
no PAL for LDs only DVDs, but it won't play the DTS audio on DVDs, i guess since it was an older DVD player
it won't have all the features.

i agree, did you ask them? they may drop the price.
stuff has not been selling on the bay for the past 3-5 weeks like it should.
so if you have extra cash you can clean up on stuff, or even offer for something like that player.
it's worth the risk

I like that one as well, but it is too high, and if I go for a model like that, it would probably be the 919E, a true PAL/NTSC LD player.

The DVD won't play DTS unless you can hack it. There are websites where people are showing how to hack the 909 to play DTS discs. It is not recommended unless you have electronics repair skills.

I just use a DVL 919 instead.

I had a Sony player with a voltage selector and a Pioneer with one as well. The Sony player had a different type of plug than US/Japan plugs, so I needed a simple adapter for that. The Pioneer had a US/Japan plug so no issues there.
