Often I've commented about how much I liked my Panasonic LX-1000u players and had replaced some Elite players with them.

However, in the space of a month, the two Pannys gave out. Both of them just one day decided to not spin up any discs, but not on the same day of course. I went through all the expected routine maintenance items, and they are just not spinning up no matter what. Had the same trouble on a Panny LX-K model and a LX-200 where that suddenly just happened and no spin up.

So the end result is they are being replaced with Pioneer DVL 909 and 919 models that I was selling but will now be sitting pretty next to the television sets.

If they were 900s, you could probably get a replacement spindle from MSB. When I called them about parts for a Runco LJR II that I bought, they said they have parts stashed in a box in storage.

Not sure if that would help the 1000's though.

I don't believe it's the spindle motors, I think it's something else in the electronics boards or in the lasers, perhaps they are too weak now.

Anyway, they did their job while they could, and it's sad to see them be replaced, but I like the way the DVLs play and the picture is great. They are sharper than the LX1000s and do a better job of display on the modern sets. If it was anything but a DVL, I would not be as eager.
