Wow, thanks for the offer, disclord!
The available RAK-LX149WH is a bit out of my price range ($42 + S&H) for a remote. Would another model, such as the VEQ1183, work?
Also, what are the primary differences between the Panasonic LX-900U and the Panasonic LX-H670/LX-H680? Do the latter models suffer from the same APL/AGC problem(s)?
Only the 900 has digital FX for CLV discs and adjustable video noise reduction, plus a more advanced TBC and velocity compensation and the wonderful SuperMASH DA converter - it also has the B/W mode which I find very useful for watching b/w discs. the models you listed are plain step-down models that don't have the same high picture quality and advanced features, although the 680 has an AC-3 output - it was the only Panasonic that did because it was released late. I had AC-3 added to my 900 by Duncan. I don't know if the other models have the APL problem or not, but the 900 is the best Panasonic player, fully comparable to the Pioneer CLD-97. It's in the small handful of the best US players made.
Remember too, not all the 900's are affected by the APL problem and it can be compensated for by adjusting your set and turning on auto contrast or auto black level.
The other remote I have is the RAK-LX149WH - I don't know about the other remotes, but Panasonic used all the same codes so it mighty be worth a try.
