Around 1984 Pioneer introduced its first semiconductor laser disc player around (1984)
They came in Silver and Black and had a wireless remote with auto CX NR.
Anyways, I saw my first LD-700 when it was being sent to me for repairs(Silver colored) At that time I had all the training literature on it and full understanding of the basics to pinpoint the troubled area.. (I will write back more on this later when my memory serves me better....
So who has purchased one of these LD-700 Silver or Black new, or at one time another? You are more than welcome to express your thoughts while you owned one of these.
I still have 1 LD-700 close to mint shape, with original print manual and the black remote that has a lower sliding cover hiding some functions.
Thanks, if you wish to share your Pioneer LD-700 player and past or future experiences.
Duane, MI

I have one - at the time it was a hard choice, between the top loaders that had a sharper picture and less color flicker or the 700, which had the tilt servo for tracking warped discs and eliminating crosstalk, as well as improved audio that extended down to 20 Hz and didn't have the background buzz of the laser tube intruding in the audio. The top loaders could also track discs the 700 couldn't.
Magnavox also sold the 700 as the Magnavision II as well as under the Sylvania name- Teac and Sansui also sold it, and Sony built their own industrial Lasermax version that was identical to the consumer 700 version except with better parts and build - it was the model LDP-150.
When Pioneer introduced the CLD-900 CD/LaserDisc player, they tacked the 700 electronics onto the CD player, so for all intents and purposes the 900 is also a 700 in performance. The 700 and 900 are the only solid state Pioneer players to use tracking mirrors with the laser diode. Later models, like the 909 and 1010 moved the entire pickup lens to create radial and tangential tracking, thus disposing with the mirrors.

I have no manual or remote, although the remote from my Elite 79 works on it. Isn't the LD-707 a player that had an output for an optional PCM digital sound adapter? Once digital sound came out on LaserDisc, Pioneer released a few players in Japan that were analog only but could be upgraded to digital sound with an outboard adapter - much like a few of Sony's Beta VCR's that could be upgraded to Beta Hi-Fi with an outboard adapter.
