I recently bought a LD player and it smells like smoke in the interior.
I try now to put it in a plastic sack with coffee, and another day with bowl of vinegar-based cleaner with water.
I read that this would help. Also fresh air could be good.

Another thing:
I used a too firm tissue to clean dust from the LD tray. Now there are kinds of scratches or stripes on the tray.
How can i clean or remove them? The tray is a rough plastic one. When i would use my fingernail, there would be a scratch for example.

Try enclosing it with a box of baking soda. Smoke smell is going to be tough though and it'll just take time I think.

i would just wipe down as much as you can with window cleaner or other non abrasive cleaner.
and just let it air out, it will take some time but will go away.
if you can take the top off it will also air out.
make sure you unplug first.

just air it out, it will be fine.

Depending on the model you have to be VERY careful about using window spray. Some of the trays (like the LD-S9) have an almost flocked finish and anything wet will cause big problems
For odors I've heard of people using a plastic bag with a scented dryer sheet......

oh, that's not a risk to take, i have never seen one so i didn't know there was any flocking etc.

i thought it was just plastic or metal like the outside to wipe down.
