Are you after the original Pioneer remote or just something that will work?
I think some of the lower model Logitech Harmony remotes go for around 1/3 of that on Ebay and should work for you.

Ah okay good call, don't know the answer but doesn't seem likely.
I see them on E-bay from time to time but you have to search by the remote part # and not CLD-97. They definitely seem overpriced but usually far less than $100.

Now it does not have any special DNR buttons or anything on it so you can get about any newer remote with a jog/dial and it will work it fine. Only differences I find is which repeat button does which function and are there separate stop and open buttons or is it the same button. Thanks krbahr- I put in a daily autosearch on ebay so if this ever pops up it should notify me by email. Perhaps I could snag one for a reasonable price. Ideally I would not want to pay more than 20-30 dollars,.. after all, it's a simple remote.

If you have a pioneer receiver with a programable remote these 4 digit codes(5062 or 5063) could make that remote control the basics(play, stop, pause, etc)

Well it's not unfortunate, I actually like it. We'll see if something pops on ebay at a reasonable price.

Most Pioneer LD remotes will work for most players. The only problem you really get into is that the control setup changed somewhat from model to model ; so, for example, some players have one button for Digital/Analog audio, & another for the mostly useless CX On/Off function, while others have just one D/A/CX button. Again, some players will give you a hard time on frame/time search if you use a remote which doesn't have a "Search" button. In general, though, if all you want to do is change the audio track, almost any Pioneer LD RCU will work.

I can confirm what others have said about Pioneer remotes being interchangeable. I picked up a remote for a Cld 52 from a thrift store a few months ago. After reading this thread I decided to test it out on my Cld 704 and it works perfectly.

After reading this thread I decided to test it out on my Cld 704 and it works perfectly. They are interchangeable for the most part. I sold a CLD-79 and had a CLD-D605 I was giving to my parents, but got the remotes mixed up when I shipped the 79. The buyer never contacted me back about the remote not working (despite his not being able to change the comb filter settings with the D605 remote), and the 79 remote has worked well for for the D605. Only thing that doesn't really work for the D605 is the "open tray" function on the 79 remote.

vinylcollector wrote: When I got my Elite cld-52 which didn't have a remote, I tried my cld-1030 and cld-3030 remotes. They do work, but to get the fast scanning on the cld-52 has to be jog shuttle dial on the remote. Also the cld-52 has a d-ctrl button which is only on it's remote and not on the player (which my remotes don't have)
Thankfully I have a cld-52 remote in the mail to me so I can try that feature out. D-CTRL will let you electronically adjust the digital audio output level.

invenio wrote: Just got the "Pioneer CU-CLD068 Laser Disc Remote Control for CLD-D702 Laser Disc Player". I hope this will work on the CLD-97! I will try it out in the next couple of days! It cost me 25 bucks w/ S+H but still only a fraction of what similar remotes are going for on remote control websites. That should work great with the 97. Enjoy
