the industrial LD-V2200 also seems largely based upon the 3030 chassis, right down to the top bonnet, bottom panel and disc tray.
this probably explains the origins behind that mysterious little service hatch on the rear panel of all 3030 based players;
anyone here own a V2200? can they see what lies accessible behind that little panel?

(( on CLD-1030 and 3030, and probably most other models, the hatch leads to a plastic blank in the player body, serving no purpose whatsoever ))

That back hatch allows access to set the tilt of the optics with a long hex driver.

thanks! handy enough feature, i suppose; wonder why PIONEER had retained the hatch on the consumer models,
without making an opening in the inner plastic body frame for it to actually be usable?

i mean, one can fairly easily DREMEL out a gap in there if they are really determined to make use of that service feature and all, but still... :crazy:

The laser does not die in these almost 30 year old systems?

depends on how much the laser pick-up in question was used in that time.

these units were made well, in the era of legendary Japanese craftsmanship.
their lasers aren't going to die from mere age. other things, like capacitors, do indeed age,
and often require replacement in older gear, but so far, none of my own has shown any signs
of issue, and they are beginning to get up in their years indeed...

Is the CLD-303 a Japanese version of this? Someone on Reddit was complaining that the B side button on their remote wasn't working... :roll:

a LOT of people get the 1988 single-sided players -3030/1030 and the 1989 double-sided players -3070/2070 confused;

(( CLD-303; JPN version of U.S. CLD-2070 ))

CLD-3070 (BOTH SIDE PLAY-A/B, 1989)(ALSO AVAILABLE AS ELITE CLD-91/92)

i've got original copies of both 3030 SMs as well, bound together into one. no scans/PDFs though.

unfortunately, a previous owner scrawled all over the last two pages of the second part there,
so if i could one of these days at least find another original printing of ARP-1560
without a bunch of unrelated graffiti written all over it, well, that would be just peachy by me i think...

BTW; i found the replacement copy i was after just a month or so ago...

This makes me think the CLD-91 is a better player than I originally thought.

Aw crap, I just learned I was wrong about the early lower-freq digital memory being used for TBC - everything through the 3070 was still CCD based. Sorry bout that.

And interestingly, the comb filter on the 91 is not recombined, it just goes to the S-Video port.

the CLD-91 is a sexy LDP. i once desired one, before i settled down with the 3030.

i've yet to see a -91 in the flesh, i wonder if it has the same sort of cheapish all-plastic front bezel construction as it's nearly-identical non-ELITE clone, the 3070?

There probably should be a seperate sales flyer just for the 3030 player itself too.....as I have the sales flyer with just the 1030 player in it.

On the 3030 / 1030 Chassis its all about the Tilt servo adjustment, its a pain as the player as to be sitting up on its side with the Power transformer side up and the main boards down for most adjustments..

Very solid spindle with low jitter and the first player to introduce the IC PA5010 which was carried on to the 97 95 3070 not the 701 base series or 704 chassis base but the very best non Elite and Elite players..
