As I have an ever expanding collection of DiscoVision discs and MVC titles, I was wondering what would be the best player for those types of releases. I would prefer a player that can handle Laserrot and Laserlock very well and reduce the speckling that would appear on the discs if played by a newer generation player. I have read that the earlier gas tube have superior tracking and can handle standard DiscoVision defects. I have contemplated the LD-660 but it's inability to be able to Picture Stop has detered me. I have read about the PR-7820 but as some might know, they are hard to find on auction sites like eBay and shipping to Australia would be superfluous. So perhaps any of you may know a good player that has worked well for you when handling DiscoVision pressings?

I have heard to older gas tube lasers are good but I don't work on them so I don't have any experience with them. Otherwise the cheap way to go is the CLD-1010 or go to the high end units HLD-X0 or HLD-X9 as you'll want a unit with a red laser.

The gas lasers are great for Discovision. That's why I kept my Magnavox VC-8010. Also have a couple of 660's which are nice too because they ignore all the disc based auto codes and have no annoying displays. They do have still frame/step and slow forward/reverse on CAV discs. But we can only keep one, and I like the Magnavox.

Oddly enough, I also found the earliest Sony industrial models good for playing Discovision too.
