For whatever reason, Stereophile posted this review (originally published in March of 1992) on their website today, of the Panasonic LX-1000 CD PLAYER/TRANSPORT REVIEWS - Panasonic Prism LX-1000 CD/LD player I guess they're getting around to archiving old reviews on their site now? |

the low-end resonates with the slam of Zeus' thunderstorms of righteous divine anger, whilst the silky, extended highs sing melodically like dancing Prima Faerie Ballerinas pirouetting upon the daintiest of Lilly Petals. and the midrange; ...it is indeed beyond reproach. the very voice of the heavenly lord above, summoning, with an irresistible immediacy, the very souls of His most faithful to join him eternally in the joyous fest de le soleil that the radiant sound character of this player shall bestow abundantly upon all of humanity, finally permitting us all to transcend to the highest stage of human evolution, and bring forth unto us all the everlasting peace and brotherhood as beings of pure energy, thought and infinite wisdom, the ultimate existence we as a species have collectively yearned for since time immemorial... |

i'd imagine the -95 is a far easier player on the eyes as well... from a purely cosmetic point of view... |

it looks handsome, and it helps dampen mechanical vibration. what's not to love? wood side panels are an elegant, beautiful touch of class that is all but nonexistent on today's audio/A/V components, regardless of the build quality or price point... |

*And* the thing didn't slide to the back of the rack when you inserted a disc. I need to get rubber anti-slide grippy-feet for my blu-ray player; my pet turtle weighs more. |

How do you like the 95? I've read the Y and C are slightly out of sync on s-vid out, is it true for all the decks? Do you use composite for it? |

It's a fantastic player, very well built. I don't use s-video so I haven't experienced the Y/C delay but it is well documented. When I compared it to my CLD-D703 the CLD-95 won hands down, better picture and much quieter both physically and with video. The 95 is also a top notch CD player too. |

Hi Guys Question for you: I have a LX-1000u and it seems to be great but it seems to be very sensitive to imperfections like warpage. Could the alignment be out or is this just how this Player works? Reason I ask is when I play some CAV discs I have Laser Lock, but if I play them in my DVL-700 no issue. But the Lx-1000 is so nice. Before I open it up and try to do a Blind Alignment I was hoping for some easier fixes - lens Cleaning -, Grease the rails?. Don't have any issues so far with CLV discs, CD's and a majority of CAV discs btw. Any Help would be amazing! DMAN |

If one LD player plays bad discs better than another it doesn’t mean anything. No LD player was designed to play bad discs. Bad discs are supposed to be thrown away. If it plays good discs then I wouldn’t touch anything. You cannot align any player to better play warped discs. Cleaning the lens almost never fixes anything. |

I don't even know what this is and if it's bs. My CLD-3080 when I captured with s-video in the screen caps section didn't seem to have any audio or video delays. The CLD-3080 is what the CLD-95 is based on, correct? So I wouldn't imagine the s-video being much or any different than what's in the cld-95. |

Either the alignment is slightly off or these players LX-1000 AND LX-h670 just weren't good at reading slightly warped discs. My CLD-99 and LX-900 will both read any disc without issues. Obviously no Laserdisc Play can stop rot. That's an issue no player that I know of can stop since it's the disc itself with the major issue of rot. |
