Even the little details seem nice. I like the gold disc side buttons.

The Cld-95 as always been my favorite player (use the composite out Fellows) the Dacs are Audiophile and the 95 is easier to put in a rack then a 97 do to the smaller Height. I will always have one in my collection and it has the Brushless Spindle Motor which Pioneer carried onto the Cld-97... So I enjoy it because its easy to move around, quiet playing, very reliable, sleek looking and Audio section is better than the 97 and also the 95 makes a Excellent stand alone CD transport due to its Spindle design...

This is just based on my experiences with the Player and my opinions,

Yes the reason s-video out is not recommended because there is a delay between y and c. Cld-97 have this fixed but dropped multibit (20bit in 95) burrbrowns in favor for single bitstream burrbrowns. If you are using digital audio outputs this is irrelevant of course.

Due to the flaw in s-video 95 was pulled from the market in less than a year and 97 replaced it. Because of this 95 is very rare and sonewhat unknown (hence cheaper when shows up)

I agree with your opinion on the CLD-95 and CDs. I even asked here about using the 95 for CDs but was advised that using a LD player as a CD player was not a good idea. I tried a Blu-ray player, BDP-320, with a decent reputation but it was no match for the 95 which just sounded better. It will always have a spot in my system.

CLD-95 and CLD-97 are gorgeous looking players. I really like the back of them. That gold, bronze, or copper look is neat since most laserdisc players are just black on the back. I love that unique aesthetic. With that said these players when they show up on Ebay command a s**t ton of money and recently two banged up ones popped up online and the CLD-95 sold for over $500 and the CLD-97 which was even in worse shape and had issues with the composite video some how sold for over $600 with the wooden sides stripped from it.
