Does anybody know anything about an ONKYO DX-V801 on LDarchive it says it's a Pioneer clone, but of what? Pretty sure it's dual side, but is it any good?

I agree, definitely looks like a CLD-2080. No digital memory for CLV recorded LDs. Decent player for the late 1980's. Just nothing overly special about the unit, No AC-3 RF.

A fruitless and frustrating day was had today. The guy had 150 LD's and 6 players advertised. I made an offer on the discs and he agreed to it, I figured I would pick up a player while I was there. He had 30 discs, then he brought out a few more, then he finally brought out a box. Each time was "I have more inside", then it was "I have some rare ones also" Little bit later "I have a bunch of box sets" F**k me, we agreed on a price for all and I left with nothing- no discs, no players. He tried to give me some for me wasted time and I refused those ARRRGGGHHHHH what a day.
I was going to grab the Onkyo, more because I haven't seen any- always Pioneer or Sony

Hate to say it, but probably would have been a time better suited for a ton of patience. Who knows what else may have been coming out of the cubbyholes? Maybe let everything finally be shown and then adjust accordingly. But I wan't there, so what do I know?

This is true, patience tends to be a weak point with me when I feel I'm being jerked around. Especially after driving quite a distance.... oh well, life goes on.
